How can you remove firework residue black powder
I have a 2013 Camaro and my neighbor is a jerk and the first of the year he was shooting off mortars and now I have a couple of black marks of the black powder on my hood that I want to get off.
I don't want to pick it because I'm sure the paint will come off with it. Does any body know of something that I can use emulsify it with out damaging the paint? I'm sure it's going to leave a discoloration mark but it's better than pulling up the paint. Chris |

Wash soap and water. Clay. Polish. Seal.

The first thing to do is wash it.
The second thing then to use is Isopropyl Alcohol. If you don't have any, hand sanitizer will work as well. The main ingredient in it is alcohol. If marks still remain they may have been hot enough to mar the paint. Marks from them may be able to be removed with compound/polish if they aren't too deep. I had one of these land on my hood several years ago, and the IPA took care of it. Hope your situation is the same. If the IPA gets them off, be sure to re-seal/wax with whatever type of protection you use.

Well it came off with the Isopropyl Alcohol.
But I see gray on one of the spots so it burned the paint and one spot has a little black still there so I guess I will have to clay bar it. Thanks guys, |
