Gap below trunk lid

Can anybody explain why there is such a relatively huge gap at the bottom edge of the trunk lid? Is it modeled this way to provide a place to put your fingers when you open the trunk?

Or is it to allow air into the trunk for Shunt

I think it would look better if the gap was smaller (the change from the concept would be less obvious that way).

The trunk was popped, but I got yelled at when I actually opened it. That pic is probably from that time period.

I noticed in one of the videos that the trunk was just pushed down and not shut like you normally would to latch it. so iI think it is not closed all the way, see the left corner at the talilight des not line up with the quarter panel edge.

They actually had a towel of some sort over the latch so it wouldn't close..but I didn't understand why it was like that if we weren't supposed to open it and check it out on the inside.

they have had problems with that car and the latch not working. i cant remember were but scott talked about having to climb through or send a lackey through the pass through to get it open. so they didnt want us to open it but they couldn't close it tight.

That one isn't closed. If it really looked like that, I'd be really worried, too.

Yep, the trunk was not shut all the way; pretty much for the whole event...

I opened it too. Got yelled at. Put the trunklid back down and walked away.

At least the Suburbans didn't show up to drag me out of the hotel later! LOL
