Epic fail!

The copo runs LSX blocks both for both 5.3's and the 7.0 is aluminum with 13 to 1 comp
Both use Callies internals and Mahle pistons.
YES THEY ARE FORGED.

The ZL1 or LSA is NOT FORGED. The only forged motor by GM is the Zr1's or Ls9.

The Lsa has the same hyperexplosive pistons (with oil squirters) powdered metal rods. Basically an Ls3 IMHO with piston squirters.

It doesn't matter if your NA or boosted if your parts are not intalled right or they are not in harmony then you'll have a short lived motor. Tuning is the over all absolutely needed part of the equation. Just my .2

Talk with ECS. They have several 800+rwhp ls3s with a lot of miles.

L99s should be a bit less. I would have no issues making 700rwhp with one.

Depending on fuel amount, octane, and tune 450-850RWHP. No kidding, its that large of a gap depending on how well those three componets are managed.

i remember reading from a credible source that the crank is rated significantly higher than the rest of the internals. What are the sources for most of your guys' information, real life applications? articles?

And doesnt the ZL1 have forged internals? whereas LS3/l99 have hypereutectic right?

As far as I know the only differnce between LS3 shortblock and LSA shortblock is the LSA has a lower compression hypereutectic pistons and has a correct top ring set for boost on the pistons. Streagth wise they are the same exept for the piston ring set.

From what I have read, the only forged engine is the LS9 and the only two engines built for supercharging from the factory are the LSA and LS9. Most people (who work on them) state the LS3 and L99's can take 700 bhp without any major issues...

...however, like most have said, adding 300 hp over what the engine is designed for is bound to cause failures sooner and you should definately not run the engine hard for very long. I have heard of even the mightly LS9 breaking under hard hard runs....

Even the mighty LS9 will break if the tune, fuel supply, and octane are not up to par. You could build the strongest motor in the world and it would break if the tune, fuel supply and octane were sh!t.

Running 790 wheel for 2k miles now. Was at 680 wheel for 10k before that.

Have about 40k miles on the motor.

It's all in the tune.

Lots of people really underestimating the LS3s capabilities here... 700whp should be fine on the stock bottom end. Lots of 800+whp applications on the stock bottom end that are doing just fine. It's tougher than the LS1s were and people push 600+ at the wheels on those all the time.

have you ever hear of a 700 hp v8 engine with even 50k miles on it?
that depends... obviously if you use 700hp every minute you drive you will not make 50 k miles on it...

as the same if you keep the car stock but you use the car just for track...

Complete newb question, but does engine longevity increase/decrease with a boosted application if your trying to push torque numbers at lower RPM's?
