with my 2010 I had to swap the TCM out of the 6L80 to the 90, ECM did not want to play nice with the new TCM. Had the car and trans tuned after the swap.

Ok. Because some say it will work with the 6L80 tune and some don't. Might depend on the year of the tranny and the year of the Camaro. Some said the the TCM needs to be reflashed from GM to match the tranny.Example if we use a 6L90 off a 13 ZL1,the TCM would need to be reflashed with the 13 ZL1 software.
I got 2 6L90's here, and I was thinking of doing the swap from my 6L80 to 6L90 this winter.

I attempted to program the TCM to a 12 ZL1, the ECM had a fit with it. I attempted to reprogram it to a 2010 Camaro SS, but would not load the older OS. So then I swapped the entire valve body and TCM assembly. Even though the valve bodies look identical, they are not. So back apart it came and used the 6L80 TCM and bolted that to the 6L90 valve body and everything worked great. Tuner had no issue with tuning the trans.
Honestly though, I almost wish I went 4L80E, because now I have been contemplating putting together a new setup and go for the 1200hp range, which I am not so sure the 90 will like. |

I have heard the 6l90 needs no work to handle to 800 rwhp. I really want to do this swap for my 6 speed manual when I figure out what's all involved.

Lots of locals have done it. Easy way to handle 800rwhp. zl1 6l90, crossmember, and driveshaft (can use zl1, custom, or have stock one shortened. Then it is just ecu/tcu programming.

Does anyone know if its true that you can only buy a remanufactured 6L90? I bought one and it is crap. I wanted a brand new trans but got a rebuild. Chev said that's all I can buy.

Never heard of that. Last one a friend bought was brand new.
And if I did anything, it would be a 4l80 swap. I wouldn't mess with either of these unless you end goal was only ~700hp.

Car went 50,000 miles on the original trans until the clutches went,GM rebuild trans on the same tune was crap from the start. Does anyone have a part # for a brand new 6L90?

My 6L90 did not feel the same as my 6L80 on the same tune. Had to have the trans retuned. The shifts were softer and slower. The 6L90 has different clutch packs and the tuning is different on the shift times.
