Mine is already down for the year. We got an abnormally early snow this year and they already salted some. A lot washed off though as it melted, so if we get another nice dry day it may get broken out one more time before winter really sets in. Usually won't come back out until late March or April. I typically save any mods that would have it down a while for this period, as it isn't a big deal to have it torn apart for weeks if need be.

Far Out Dan!! I totally rebuilt the complete underside of the 'Vette in early 2015.....used strictly Moog suspension components, a fiberglas rear spring (9#) vs. the stock HEAVY steel spring (43#), along w/ replacing almost everything under the hood. ESPECIALLY the engine....have the original "numbers matching" 350 220 hp L82 engine...BUT I got another 250 '79 motor home block (4 bolt) & built it up to a 383 stroker w/ my original 4 speed close-ratio trans. Car has approx. 46k miles, but 383 has less than 4k. Mine is an "early" '79, so it doesn't have pwr. windows or locks, or a/c or tilt steer. wheel. The last pic is the Vette sittin' over my 3.5' x 6' deep x 22' long pit in my "Sanctuary"....The red truck is an '03 I owned then sold to a buddy several years ago.....AND...o' course, a pic of my '06 Harley Road King Classic w/ only 15225 miles!

Right around this time I like to get the inspection and oil change done on the ZL, then put her to sleep. If I have a club meeting around the first week of November then I'll attend that and then put her to bed. I try to get my maintenance tasks done before snowfall.

Secondly, how many serious fuucking hurricanes do you think one person sees over a lifetime down here? And flooding happens everywhere and affects most people to stupid to evacuate. Third, most of us don’t mind the humidity cause we’ve had air conditioning and sweet tea since the latter part of the 1990’s. Fourth..I’m gonna go put on my shorts and flip flops now and go outside and wash my car. I gotta drive to Vengeance Racing next week...(way to far for you to travel to by the way) and get some more performance work done. Excuse me...gotta go turn the ac down....it’s getting a little warm in here already... |

Stored the T/A a month ago, just yesterday for the Camaro.
First snow on the ground today, so good timing. I jack up the car just enough to take some weight off of the tires, and use a simple tire cradle of rolled up carpet. Never fully unload the suspension cause it is not good for the bushings, and esp the struts/Coilovers. Another option would be to over inflate the tires, but I prefer taking some weight off the summer only tires. Add a little stabilizer to the gas, a desiccant container in the interior to absorb any humidity, and a fresh scent container. Battery tender always used. Double Car Covers. Wait until spring to change the oil as my garage is semi heated. Hate winter here in Michigan. |
