HP tuners Help

I have successfully installed my AGP Twin turbo kit. Motor is stock. It idles terribly and I cant get the MAF log thing to record anything to tune my MAF table. I also keep getting Service stablitrac warning message. Please help. I cant upload the Log file to this forum for some reason.

Unplug the maf - should run ok then. Not a solution to fix your tune, but if you need to get the car going somewhere and didn't make any head or cam changes the stock VVE tables should be fine and run the car ok in pure Speed Density mode. The MAF is really sensitive to positioning, running pure SD, especially for a boosted car, may just be easier.

Service Stabilitrac is probably due to a misfire condition, which may just be because the maf is in a new spot it doesn't like, or maybe you actually cracked a plug or scorched a wire. Or, you have a big vacuum leak - you just added a whole bunch of plumbing. See how it runs with the MAF unhooked and that should give you an idea, if it's fine, it's probably the MAF tune, if it's still awful I suspect you probably dinged a plug (it's easy to do) or have some other issue.

As far as the histogram for MAF tuning you may have to dial that in a bit to get it working right. I use MAF against LTFT+STFT and tune all the regular driving stuff in closed loop, same for the VVE. Just make sure you get it in pure MAF and pure SD or you'll be chasing your tail for a while if you're in blended. You can use a wideband with AFR error as an option, and for the WOT stuff you'll want that anyways.

Hope that gives you something to try and maybe get's you started.

ok I Put ll new plugs in this morning NGK TR6Ix gapped to .30 as recommended by AGP. I just ran out to unplug the MAF and it wont run at all now. I tried to set up the graph in the upper right of the scanner with the LTFT + STFT and it wont log. can I send you the log I just did?

Unplugging the MAF won't work unless he has broken out the IAT from it.

OP, go to youtube and look up Goat Rope Garage's videos. They helped me tremendously.

I believe Goat rope says to put in open loop first.

Duh - some times I forget the obvious. I was just thinking it was quicker to unplug, than to explain failing it in the tune to try to force SD.

Are you trying to tune it yourself or just get it to a dyno?

I have watched goat rope extensively and cant seem to get it. I might just be in over my head. $400 to get it tuned locally might be the way im going. just hate to waste $$ on the HP tuners. yea it will sell but i'll never get it all back. lots of mistake with this car really hurting my wallet and love for it.

Yes but no one seems talkitive. I've posted and get 300 views and one response. Ive watched 100 different vids and have spent hours on the couch mimicing things they do online, sometimes their screen dosent even have the same settings. I wish i was back in Florida, i would just scedule time with Fasterproms and get done by the experts.

This forum does not allow users to upload tune files, unfortunately.

1. Have you installed new fuel injectors already? If so, you need to load the injector data before you start the car.

2. Do you have a wideband? If not, you will have to setup your MAF histogram (now called a graph) using the Parameter in MATHS called LTFT + STFT.

To do this. open scanner, go to graphs. Right click a graph, go to Graph Layout, highlight the MAF graph. Click the blue Paramater link, go down to MATHS, expand Fuel Trims, double click on LTFT + STFT. Now set the high value to 20 and low value to -20. Now make sure the Column axis Values match that of your MAF table in your tune. Open the VCM Editor, open your maf table and right click on the MAF axis values, select Column axis, Copy Labels.

Go back into VCM Scanner and paste those labels into the Values box. SAVE that Graph for future use.

Make sure you add both LTFT and STFT to your channel log. You cant log anything that isnt added to the channel log. Thats the main data stream, if its not there, its not logging.

If you need help with injector data, send me a PM and I can help you out.

Good luck.

Also, dont sell HP Tuners just because you give up on tuning. I dont personally tune the fuel/spark on my own car, and I have found thousands of uses for HPTuners. Especially the VCM Scanner. It removes the guessing from trouble shooting. Keep it!
