Winter Storage
So at exactly what time do you start to tear down your car for the winter makeover and not worry about missing out on one of those really nice warm winter days....
I have a lot planned and just wondering if I put her away too soon.... ("Not really")

I put mine away for winter, but take it out if it's nice and I want a fun drive. Chances are you're safe November to April to put it away and not miss much out where you are. You might get away with taking it out in March or putting it away in December depending on the year, but November to April would be my bet if you're wanting to make sure your car doesn't see salt.

I wait until the salt or brine hits the roads before I put 2 of my cars away for the winter.

Once the roads get salted it goes away until the salt is washed away and gone. Magnesium chloride does terrible things to automobiles!

I just put mine away last week. I always get the oil changed a few weeks before and do a good wash with bug/tar remover to make sure nothing will stain the car over the storage period. I usually take it out sometime in April after a few good rains to wash away the salt.

I like the weather to be nice enough that I can still wash it before I park it for winter. So I just did that this past weekend. Was a good time to cut the insurance down and take road coverage off until spring time as well. Takes away the temptation of driving as well.

In reference to “storing your car for the winter” on behalf of my trailer park living, cousin marrying, mullet wearing kinfolks I’d just like to say

I too am a "TrailerParker", but I rent a shop so that I have a place to store and work on my cars and toys. This will be her first winter alone...

Took road insurance off as of yesterday.....will put a cover over it later today, after a good scrub-down. Already have the 'Vette "under cover" as of a week ago. Too damn cold to get the Harley out....so I'll be drivin' the ole' '16 Silverado...'til NEXT YEAR!!

What is this 'winter' you speak of, and why do you feel the need to park your baby for it?...

Mine comes in and out of the shop a few times a week as long as theres no snow. There’s not much salt here, but the damn wind is brutal late winter/early spring. Blowing sand isn’t a good thing in many ways.
