HVC5 Autumn Cruise Day

When: Saturday November 26th, 2011 from Mid-Morning to Early-Evening(ish).
Where: Tilted Kilt - Hoboken, NJ

A number of members have discussed taking a day to travel together to New Jersey. The Tilted Kilt has recently opened in Hoboken NJ and has food, drinks, "employees who could take pictures with us" ;-) and an overall good meeting place. We are proposing the Autumn Cruise for Saturday November 26th. We are going to talk this up with the NJ crew and NY5thGen. If you are interested in joining us please post on the thread. I requested SWAY 69. My Roller derby name and number and the year I was born. The person who took the info ok'd it. 2 weeks later when I called to inquire where my plates were some fruit told me I couldn't have it, that it was inappropriate and some people might find it offensive. I said what's offensive about my year of birth. They said the numbers 69. I said whats offensive about that. He said the sexual connotation. I said we'll now I'M offended that you and "these" people would think that about my year of birth. He said you can only have 69 if the vehicle is a 69. I said but it's my year of birth. He said no one driving behind me will know that's my year of birth. And I said well unless the person behind me is a car buff, they're not going to know its a 69 either. We went around and around. Took pictures of my roller derby uniform with my names and number on it, wrote down our website, blog and facebook address and went to see the top dog at the DMV in Poughkeepsie. The next call I get is from Albany personalized plate department saying, "We just want to make sure we have the spelling and info correct before we send in your plate to be made. That's S W A Y 6 9 right?" The clerks who deny the plates are IDIOTS!!! Sorry this was so long.

For the sixth consecutive year we at Hoffman Car Wash invite all active duty and former members of the United States Military to have their vehicles washed free of charge on Veteran's Day! Hoffman Car Wash, along with over 1,700 other car wash locations across the nation will provide free car washes to veterans and current military service personnel, in partnership with the Grace For Vets FREE Wash Program on Friday, November 11th from 8:00AM to 7:00PM. It is our way of thanking these men and women for the sacrifices that they have made in service to our country.

Last year, the Grace For Vets Program washed 101,537 vehicles belonging to U.S. veterans and active duty personnel and we at Hoffman Car Wash had the privilege of washing approximately 3,000 of those vehicles. The goal for 2011 is to wash over 120,000 veteran's cars nationwide. One veteran wrote to us and said, "Thank you for the wonderful offer to veterans and service personnel for free car washes on Veterans Day. It is good to see such spirit these days." We will offer this free service at all twelve of our Exterior and Full Service car wash locations. My early xmas present LPE 3.91 gears to replace the glass-chin early release Richmond 4.10s... Will be having that taken care of at Jannetty's on the 21 st. Then the clutch upgrade in the spring... Maybe meth injection too... So I can finally go to track with you guys.
