well the LS7 would need to be redone around the direct injection platform and have to be certified for how many cars? IMO I doubt that it would be worth it. cool-? Yes, but profitable?

Could GM build something similar to what I have to out run a ZL1, be profitable and would that be enough?

I think the Z28 could have done great if GM were to higher Dodges marketing team. GM flat sucks at marketing. I own one of these and happened to stumble on it. GM should have been targeting me with everything they had. Every single track day someone ask me why I did not get a ZL1 and what isa Z28. Its said. GM screwed up big time.

I kind of doubt it but who knows; Its possible. One thing I will say: If GM does make a 6th gen Z28 then they will need to think long and hard on the powertrain. I don't believe the LT4 will cut it this time. Sure it is powerful enough, but Chevy will eat crow for all of that blah blah about the z28 being naturally aspirated, plus the fact that we already have three performance models right now with the engine, and of course price.
The 5th gen Z28 was a great idea, but yes it stumbled due to the price and its content. It definitely made its mark in terms of visual appeal, but a lot of people couldn't get over the large price tag given its focused objective. Z28s will also need to be a little more user friendly as well if Chevy wants to sell larger quantities of them.

Then don't bother making it. All of us who actually bought a new one wanted the car because it was not just another user friendly car.

The new Chev. V8 turbo is the only new "engine configuration" we really know about. That engine goes into the Caddy and Vette (Zora). Also, probably into an expensive Z/28... It is what everyone in Europe is doing..., ie. "M" cars.

The best z28, meaning the original '67-'69 models, were more user friendly than the '14 and '15, and they were, at that period, a sensation. Like I said, Chevy has to think the formula through carefully.

Just curious...more user friendly in what way? I have a friend who has '69 Z/28. No power steering, braking requires significant effort, etc. Sounded great, and would love to have one, but I can't see how it's more user friendly.

ME Vette will probably make a debut in/as a 2020. The "ZR1" needs breathing room for a bit. In Gen 5 the ZL1 was given two years before the Z/28 dropped the mic at tracks worldwide. I see that Camaro and Corvette both have too many models as it is. Where would the Z/28 land?
