Easy fix for brake fluid cap leaking

What I did on my ZL1 and Z28 is just use a spacer to get the bladder tighter on the tank. It worked like a charm! No more brake fluid leak. This pick is my truck, but the Camaro is the same cap. Use a old school door handle washer, or any other thin material.

There is a TSB that replaces the entire reservoir for this problem. Fixed mine after different caps were tried.

I just used a door handle plastic washer, like off a 55 Chevy, you can even make one out of any plastic like a milk carton. I found this to be way less time then taking to the dealer and changing it all out. I rather work on my own car for little things like this. Yes new caps do not help even a new reservoir may not help. I have a new reservoir on the Z28 and it leaked, after using the washer it stopped it forever.

Yes, new caps will still be loose. Even new tanks may leak, I have a new tank on the Z28 it leaked. The caps are just too loose.

Mine was leaking around the seams and the cap.

Dealer changed my reservoir, Notice the leak around the seams.

Was a simple fix, Took about 1/2 hour.

Yes, the cap we think is loose for people that never check fluid and push the bladder back up, so it's loose to let the bladder suck down in the tank.

No it does not leak around the seams, the fluid just drains and stays on the seams.
There are just not to smart mechanics at dealers that think it leaks at the seams.

Better and easy, faster fix and will never leak is add the washer.

I hate this...ever time I track my car I get some leaking around the reservoir.

I even swapped my V6 one for a V8 SS brake cylinder and reservoir and it still leaks.

What washer can I buy and install to fix this?

If you have an Advanceauto store near you just get the GM replacement cap that doesn't have the logo. All I had to do was shave the inside groves and walah. Never leaked since.
