I believe the rev limiter would keep the motor from blowing up besides that's better than dying.

I agree with putting it in neutral. My first reaction: Why in hell would you not touch the shifter??
Every driver should take a course every 5 years: Emergency 101 #1 What should I do when my gas pedal is stuck to the floor: A) Mash brakes & fudge up the brake pads B) Examine what is wrong with the gas pedal C) Put car in neutral & push on brakes. |

I can see them panicking. Toyota drivers have probably never seen speeds above 100kph! (60 mph)
LOL

My dad and uncle both own an '07 Tundra crewmax limited, My mom owns a '08 Sequoya (dunno how to spell it), and haven't had a single problem.. But my dad did take his and trade in on a platinum tundra crewmax this week and they told him they didn't have the floormats for it cause of the recall so he told them it was fine and to throw in remote start, and he said he would and asked why he wanted it... "Well my son's 2010 Camaro is gonna have it and he can't have something i dont." haha.. His tundra is a hell of a nice truck, and by far my favorite as far as trucks go, but.. My Cam is still better! anyways.. I like to ramble..

And btw.. My dads Tundra hit 122 the other and i think it had just a little more in it.. Not to hate or anything...but.. It'll outrun ford chevy or dodge i promise.. In fact i've been in the truck several times when its happened..

Yea, i ran a Tundra 5.7 Ext cab in my GM Stage II Cobalt SS Supercharged, and it was exactly neck in neck up till 70 kph. (then he backed off). Right from a dig, i did lose a pinch on the 1-2 shift though, just a pinch.
It ticked me off he didn't want to run more, 70 kph is right where max boost starts coming!

There is def a lack of knowledge in most drivers when it comes to abnormal conditions, every auto I've owned, including my Toyota 4Runner can be turned of in gear, you just can't engage the steering wheel lock unless in park. Also the shifter can be put into nuetral just by pushing the stick foward, or up if it's column, the detent doesn't engage untill you try to go into reverse, even if starting in the lowest gear. Now I'm not saying Toyota doesn't have a problem, but if the driver can't figure out how to stop a car beside smashing the brake pedal that's also a problem. We give licenses away far too easily.

Oh, the Tundra 5.7L will outrun a GM 5.3L for sure, but i'll put a year's worth of paycheck on the GM equipped with the 6.0L OR the 6.2L outrunning the 'yota!!!
