Non-remote key available? Lockout Protection?
This may seem dumb but will there be a non-remote key available? I searched and only found pics of the fancy shmancy hard key + remote.
The reason I ask is I surf and usually take the key in the water with me but with an electric key, that's not gonna work out too well. I did notice that there are "power programmable door locks with lockout protection." What exactly is that? My guess would've been those ugly keypads on some cars that I haven't seen in a while but I certainly don't see one of those. And on another note, any chance surfboards would fit inside the car (through trunk and into back seat)? Thanks and sorry for making my first post a question. |

You don't have a waterproof cell phone do you? Just wondering, because where do you put your other stuff that you can't take in the water?
And what happens if you lose your keys in the water?... There will be no remote that comes from chevy that doesn't have a remote on it for the camaro. Although, you might possibly be able to get a key made that will work that doesn't have the remote in it. |

Cell phone, etc all stay locked in the car. Board shorts and wetsuit both have a loop that the key goes on to stay safe. Never lost one before. I know some people just stash their key somewhere but I'd really rather not do that.

You will be able to get a "hard key" cut.

You could bury your key in the sand somewhere. Just make sure no one watches what car you drove there and where you bury the key.
Ha but seriously, Chevy should offer a key without the remote. |

I really wish that Chevy would make a great Camaro specific key with the logo on there. Something to be as unique as the car itself.

Heh yea, seriously some people do that. Or put it on top of a tire. It's kinda funny when you see people do it. But good to hear about the key, hopefully it holds true. Thanks for the input!

it should be like the corvette. As long as the key is in the car with YOU, you push the button and it starts!!

Except you need to contact onstar, hard to do when you don't have a waterproof phone. I am very interested in a non-remote key as well, as I'm into diving, hopefully the Valet key has no chip in it.

umm i believe there is a button somewhere on the outside of the car like under it or something that you press and it will call on-star(if not that would be SWEET!)

I go paddleboarding a lot and I have electronic keys. Pelican makes a waterproof case with a aluminum fob that you can connect to your shorts or to the leash post. It may work for you, haven't lost anything or had leakage problems yet. Not a perfect solution but it works for me.
