Be honest, how many are thinking of going with the new S650 Mustang now?

Pass on the Mustang. I'll be driving the Camaro until I'm not able to get my license renewed, hopefully 15 or 20 more years. I had one Mustang that I got in '66. An OK car for the time and I drove it for 8 years but had to get a valve job and transmission overhaul during that time. I did look at a Mustang GT convertible in '05 since there was no Camaro but went with an Infiniti Coupe instead. Drove that for 11 good years until I got the '17 2SS in August '16. That's my keeper.

What in the hell is an "opinionated" product? I think Ford needs to go back to college and refresh themselves on word-salad-woke-platitudes and double-think meanings....lol...

I think they are referring to the fact that on one hand they are building and EV but on the other they are still committed to a Mustang with 500hp V8. I don't care, what I like is that they are committed to selling both.

That's all I ask for, OPTIONS. EVs aren't going to be the answer for everyone, but they will for some. Ford is earning a fan right here pretty quickly.

That is so true. When GM and Dodge sell the souls of the Camaro and Challenger to become all EV and another generic face in a crowd; potential buyers will only have one choice if they want a traditional muscle pony car. Good forward thinking on Ford's part to put themselves in a strong position. Mustang = the first and last real pony car.

I don't know if they figured out the rear wheel hop, or not, I had a 15 GT/PP car that I had to put at least a Grand's worth of Steeda's part in to it to get it to not hop and then spin out on me.
The chassis on the Mustang and Camaro's are barely on the same planet and I'd never go back to a Mustang.

Now this is what I am talking about. A company that wants to put the customer's wants first, instead of showboating with a questionable energy format. GM will end up forcing itself out of business if they continue on this path of chasing EV technology. The technology is thoughtful but decades behind in terms of reliability when compared to ICE. I don't ever see myself wanting an EV as long as ICE vehicles continue to be made.

It is ashame, however. Camaro and Corvette were once masterpieces in automotive technology, including up to the present time. It is such a horrible waste to cancel such a great automobile as the Camaro.

I agree. They should try to strike a balance. I am sure the Equinox, Blazer, and Silverado EVs will sell pretty well but they are putting all their eggs in one basket. I am sure it costs more to run both ICE and EV business but that should be offset by being able to capture a larger market of buyers.

IF they're being genuine and not facetious, keeping ICE into an 8th gen Mustang will have even more profound impact. Being the only domestic ICE pony car past 2030 will mean even those "hold outs" will have decisions to make as the last of the Challenger and Camaro ICE versions get to be 6+ years old. Some are fine keeping older used cars while others are more accustomed to buying new regularly.

Even beyond Mustang as it all but guarantees that F-series will also retain ICE, even if at a reduced presence. Actually, I'm willing to bet it was the other way around that triggered this. F-series buyers want to keep ICE and so it'll stick around and Mustang just gets to keep going with it too as a happy byproduct.

It's a great sentiment from Ford, and I hope for a while they can help expose the folly of all the "EV inevitability". EVs are the Trojan horse to end fossil fuels and usher in a new low-expectation, low quality of life Transition future.
A few high-end ICE models from Ford and GM are not anywhere near keeping ICE around as a viable option for the average car-buyer. Better than nothing, I suppose.
But, unnfortunately it sounds somewhat similar to Reuss's reassurances recently about ICE and EV compatibility. This was band-aid ICE pr, and seems to be so unlike GMs direction now. I think Ford will likely end up the same.

Yep, a Gen7 could have:

- Improved the visibility, trunk opening, new digital gauge cluster that sits lower
- LT2 from the C8, ZL1 could have seen LT4 updates seen on the CT5V Blackwing
- Update suspension to Mag-ride 4.0 as seen on the CT4V/CT5V
- Updated tech - Rain sensing wipers, front parking sensors/camera, MyMode, ZMode, etc.

Probably right, but I think since Ford is selling enough EVs to offset their ICE business they be able to make it viable for much longer.
