New Air Filter - Oil?

Replacing my air filter - curious if we need to oil the air filter? AC Delco box did not come with oil but was not sure where to check if we need oil.

You only oil reusable air filters. Standard disposable paper filters are oil-free.

The Z28 is not a standard paper oil filter. Its a factory K&N that I think needs a light oil.

Good question to the op. It appears it’s a dry filter, I’ve taken mine off and used compressed air to get the crap out of it already. But I could totally be wrong. Looking forward to the answer.

The Z/28's stock, K&N conical filter is dry.

I stumbled upon a few of your vids on YouTube tracking your z. Awesome to watch, great driving. I can’t wait to hit the track this spring in my new to me Z. U running a catch can? I looked behind my throttle body the other night and was surprised how oily it was. 5,500 miles no track time. Catch can in order I guess.

No oil. Every LS application I've seen says no oil. Apparently if you use an oiled filter it will jack up the MAF.

I have first hand experience on this. Many if not most of the GM cars at dealer auction with a K&N need the MAS cleaned or replaced. I keep cleaner on the shelf and clean every one that comes in. I think its from to much oil on the filter but GMs take is to not use any at all.

Thanks everyone. That’s what I figured but wanted to double check.

Thanks! Hope you found the more recent Dominion and VIR stuff. I still need to avenge my summit main and njmp times. No catch can for me since I’m cpo and under warranty. I’m afraid to look! I don’t engine brake too much on track but I’m sure I could use one...
