Not saying ithe track didn't have good prep, but I've heard bad prep complaints at every single track I've ever been to. I've come to the conclusion that 90% of the time its the driver. Getting the car to hook is just part of the skill involved. I've just heard it so many times that its a lame excuse at this point.

My last night out of the season everyone was complaining about prep as usual. I lined up against a manual 5.0 and get got that car to hook perfectly. Really amazing driver. I pulled a damn 2.4 60' on radials but that was because I launched too hard. I could have blamed it on the track like everyone else that night, but it was all me. If the prep was so bad that 5.0 wouldn't have hooked.

Again not trying to start an argument but most of the time its the driver, not the track. Launching is difficult and bad launches are nothing to be ashamed of to the point where you start blaming other things.

Here's more race vids and pics from the day!

I'm racing pos oil burning 30 year old acura at 3:38 :P

Watching this might give you an idea of how the track is.

There was 20-30 mph headwind(as noted at 0:06 seconds) and DA was 1800-2000 at 2-3 pm.

Too bad we aren't closer 08, looks like we'd be a good run. I think with some actual bolt ons I could trap 102-3.
If LandonB can make it I may be able to get some good races with him... I have nailed down 2.3 60 foot and 14.2-14.3 @ 98-99 down. Without a 20-30 mph headwind and in better DA I am sure I could hit 13.9x and hit 100+ mark! Right now my best DA corrected run is 13.9 @ 101, but I want it on paper.

Granted the stock auto camaro v6 lfx I ran against did 15.0 @ 93.5 and MagnumForceGB's full bolt on and tuned one did mid 14's @ 95ish mph in those conditions, he would need some bolt ons to keep up and/or beat me the whole way I would say. But should be good runs nonetheless if he comes.

CAI, 3 inch exhaust, test pipe in place of Cali cat, custom J pipe. Basically intake and exhaust, but I still have 2/3 of my cats on. The stock lfx got the jump(I was still practicing launching) but past the 1/8 mile I caught him up and was walking away. IMO it really wasn't a bad run for him, I did 15.1 @ 93.5 when I was stock.

This is why I like racing against my wife, we both have raced the same amount of times and we both suck at launching. Thunder Valley just has a bad waterbox location it looks like, I'll try to post a video from my GoPro tomorrow showing how it is. I can blame my bad trap speed on the car though, heat soak sucks.

This is just random, my 60 foot went from 2.5 to 2.3 when I only did a quick burnout after attempting to circumvent the waterbox. If you peel out for half a second to a second then it cleans your tires and helps tremendously! I had always thought it was bad to burnout, but if you just peel out momentarily makes HUGE difference! For me it did anyways...

Burnouts are a necessity even on street tires.

Good luck on Saturday. I get to spend the day moving stuff.

Might be able to get back out there soon, want to try doing burnouts and see if that improves my times.

I'm still gonna try, it's a pretty far drive for me. Probably won't know if I'm going until Saturday morning lol

I'll be there Saturday. My friend is letting me borrow his helmet. I don't have my v6 anymore, but I'm probably going to do plenty of horrible runs at first figuring out how to launch my SS. My first few runs in my 1LS were horrible until I finally got down to mid-14s.

Darn.... Well my friend has a 2006 Charger SRT8 with intake/mufflers and diablo tune. It runs pretty well and would be good matchup. DA is supposed to only be 200-300 tomorrow!

If you find yourself flooring it and he is walking away, he is spraying.

Edit: just checked out your journal thread and love it!

Mehhh track's closed today, too cold they say. That means tomorrow will be PACKED, don't go man! lol it's ridiculous! You will spend $15 to race and get maybe 3 passes in 3 hours! It's supposed to be 70 tomorrow with DA well over 2000 as well... it's a lose-lose.

I plan on going next saturday though!
