Gen 6 Bumper to 5th Gen - is it possible?
Situation is - had a good friend of mine who died in a car crash about 8 months ago. His parents had a cookout for the car club and pointed out that his bumper original (he upgraded to the zl1) was still sitting in the garage.
I could think of no better way to honor a friend than putting his bumper onto a my car. I know there are now 6th gen conversion bumpers, but wouldn't be the same. Is this even possible? Appreciate you guys in advance |

Simplest 3 answers from anyone with common sense would be no, no & no. Different body lines, hood lines, fitment to understructure crash guards, headlights , etc.
But I'm the idiot who put a 2010 camaro nose on an el camino, then later a 2016 nose. For me both times required both vehicle modification ( cutting ,welding, re engineering mounting points, etc) and modification of the plastic bumper cover, which requires being able to hot air weld Thermo elastomeric olefin plastic . Later nose was far different than first & due to difficulty in welding and reshaping plastics, I did more vehicle modifications to do less plastic 2nd time around. Also included building an entire lower structure steel for the newer bumper, as it has a separate lower underside cover also, as opposed to the built in underside of the 5th gens. So is it any way even possible? only for someone like me with more fab skills than common sense. I don't know you , but if you were one of those fabrication capable people you'd be telling everyone that says no it's not possible to go F themselves and already be cutting & fitting. I understand reasons for wanting to do it, just giving a crash course into the reality of what it takes. |

I agree with jlcustomz, but here is another idea. What if you source the headlights and lower grills and just mount the bumper on a wall like a piece of art? I've always wanted to do this either in my garage or mancave but have never gotten around to it.

Could also make it a sister wall art with a gen 5 fascia. They make one hell of a Halloween mask hanging up by themselves. |
