MRR wheels good or bad

I really like the new MRR 228 z28 replica wheels, and they are very affordable. Is this company any good? Will the wheels hold up? I want to save money, but I don't want crap wheels. Thanks.

Yeah, I like them too and plan on getting a set. I plan on going HPDE with the wheels, 10" in front 11" rears. I would like to know if these can handle the stress of track days around Mid-ohio and possibly Gingerman.

I ordered a set, Will use them as DD wheels and my factory wheels for track use. Primarily because the factory wheels are forged and the other ones are not. However I do think they would hold up well for HPDE, I'm just not going to chance it at 150+ mph and non-forged wheels.

OEM SS wheels are cast also, i've never heard of anyone having issues with them on the track.

Now, if you wrap them in some seriously sticky rubber, like slicks and go blast around the track full bore, who knows, they may not hold up. Street tires likely would be fine though.

The real downside is they're going to be heavy compared to like TSWs.

Yeah I get that and I don't think it would be a problem, just remember the top speed on a stock SS is 160 mph btw.

The main idea behind using the forged wheels is that a cast wheel of same strength will have to weigh a lot more relative to the forged one. Hence, the forged wheels would tax the suspension less (less unsprung weight) and let your car perform better.

Not specifically talking about these wheels, I don't know anything about them, but the reverse is also true. If a cast wheel of same size is similar in weight to a forged wheel of same size, then there is no way it can be as strong as that forged wheel.

One way or another, using the forged wheels for the track makes most sense.

He drives a ZL1. Hence cast aluminum wheels and sticky GY Eagle F1 G2's.

One reason why the 1LE is such a bargain at 3500 bucks, getting forged wheels along with the suspension improvements.

+1. I was able to sell those wheels for $2.9K with the tires on them, almost subsidizing the whole package.
