Best rear tires for 700rwhp for street/drag
Hey all, what tires should I buy that will hook best with 700rwhp? I am going to drive it (aggressively!) mostly on the streets/backroads all year long and from time to time I will also drag race..
thanx! |

Are you staying on the factory 20"? Toyo R888 would be a good all a rounder, although it may not hook as well as a drag radial in a straight line
Nitto NT05R are also good but won't do as good in the turns as R888. Mickey Thompson ET Street SS are good too, but will wear really fast (as all these will) and aren't great for turns (soft sidewalls) Best of both worlds is buy a drag packb for the strip and run a Nitto or R888 on the road. |

I will keep the stock 20". And I'm on a budget so I will probably go with street tires that can also handle. The Nitto on the last phrase, what's the full name? Thanks a lot for the help! |

Check out the G-Force Comp 2 A/S from BFgoodrich. There was a good thread on here recently. He raved about them and they go for about 180 a tire. Look on tirerack they are a sponsor on the site. Search tire review. It's there

There's no way in hell that BF Comps are going to hold 700 WHP worth a shit. To be honest, only the best of the best tires are going to hold 700 WHP on a 20" wheel. You're going to need NT05Rs, R888s, or MT ET Street to hold the power and be happy with it. If you're ok with spinning a pretty decent amount, then an Michelin Pilot Super Sport or similar would be O.K. but they'd suck ass at the drag strip. You'd burn them off the entire 60' unless you are insanely good with your throttle control, and you'll still make a pass significantly slower than a pass with an NT05R or even R888. This is a lot of power we're talking. You need a lot of tire. Best drag radial is probably the ET Street SS. Best street tire for ride and comfort with ok high HP performance is the Michelins. Best of both worlds is an R888 or the NT05R. They're all expensive. |

R888 is the way to go on a street car that does straightline and handling. R888 is actually a tiny bit stickier than 555Rs (which are drag radials).
Mickey's are the stickiest tires but they wear really really fast and suck in handling/stability. NT05Rs are almost as sticky as the Mickey's but last a bit longer and handle better. 555Rs arent quite as sticky as the NT05Rs but they last a bit longer. R888 is what all the big dogs that run the 1 mile events wear... Best all around tire for high HP cars but they arent cheap.

Toyo R888 for sure if you want cornering performace as well as sticky.
Or Mickey Thompson's if you just want to go straight. Otherwise you will just be spinning your wheels.

OEM rear size is 305/35/20s NT05Rs that fit just fine with no rubbing on stock wheels is a 315/35/20, order that size and they'll fit. R888 size for stock rear wheel is 305/30/20. Mickey ET Street S/S for stock rear wheel is 305/35/20 |

For your hp, I would go with what ZYBORG said. Either way, you're not going to be a happy camper if you street race and run it on the track... because you will definitely go through more than one set in a year. Build that pocket cash first and leave that foot light until you can buy at least 2 sets. Otherwise, buy the R888's and wisely plan your races to make it to the end of year.
