Help on intake vacuum port??

I am installing a 2012 SS Camaro LS3 into a Gen 1 Camaro and need help identifying what this (vacuum ?) port is/does. I thought it might have been part of the vapor recovery system but can't find any info on the disc I bought.
It appears to enter the intake after the throttle body so would have had to have some type of control on allowing air through.
Anyone know what it does and if it can just be plugged?
Thanks!
