Keep my SS or upgrade to a ZL1 or 6th gen SS

As the title states, I'm currently debating what to do in the next year or so. I currently have a 2010 Camaro SS Transformers Edition with 28,000 miles that is FBO and making 424rwhp. It's a fun car for sure, however, it's outdated and if I really want to start making power I'll have to dump 5+ grand into it. With 5th gen values going down like crazy, I'm not sure I want to do that. As it sits right now, I could make a few grand on it from what I paid and have into it(bought it from my dad who gave me the best deal of the century). Because of that, would it be best to sell it while I can make some money and upgrade to a better car or keep it?

Food for thought- For mid to low 30's I can get a low mileage stock 5th gen ZL1 or a low mileage BUILT 6th gen SS. So my next question is, what would be the better car to get if I end up selling my SS? Im not into track days or drag racing, just want a fun and fast street car. From my research so far, the 6th gen is definitely the way to go as it's lighter, updated, and overall a better quality car. Buying one that's already been built with 550rwhp would be icing on the cake too. However, the ZL1 makes insane power with simple mods and looks so menacing. Ufortunately it's insanely heavy and again, outdated.

So, what would you do?

I’d Keep your current SS but that’s just me. Especially if It’s paid for. The ZL1 would be my next choice.

How is it outdated? They make a 6th gen transformer???? Nope. Does the 6th gen look as good as the 5th???? Nope. Which has sold the most , the 5th or the 6th>>>>> 5th!! Why does it always have to do with power? Why can we not be happy with something just because we like it? If I was going to do anything I would go the 5th gen ZL1 . They look pissed off just sitting still. Now with that said , be sure to take ANY ZL1 to a mechanic and have it checked. These cars were not driven like little ole lady Sunday drivers...….

I’d keep it just because...it’s a 5th gen. Plus, sounds like you got it a great price. In the end, it’s what you want. Go with what makes you happy.

I wouldn't trade my 5th gen straight across for a 6th gen. I don't care about 200 lbs lighter and I don't care about being 'out dated'. I actually prefer the more retro look of the 5th gen.

Pardon me while I slip into old man mode, but your dad gives you a good deal on a car (presumably his prior) and you figure the best thing to do is flip it and get something shinier?

Any chance you get to upgrade to a ZL1, take it. If you're happy with the 5th gens I'd stick with a 5th gen ZL1. I'm really not a fan of the 6th gen curves, also a ton of recall issues with them.

Keep your 5th gen and modify it to your tastes. You’re already ahead with your price paid for your car. If you’re not a track guy then you won’t have to spend a fortune for a all out monster. The things that a 6th gen has that make you feel your car is outdated are not worth the risk of the issues that come with the 6th gen. Their issues of failing A8 transmissions and oil pumps are one of several issues to consider. At the end of the day it’s your decision but years from now you will be telling your friends “ I wish I had never sold my dads Camaro”

I Really don't think it looks outdated bro honestly. The 5th gen design its timeless, I had multiple occasions were people asked if my car was a 2019 or was it the "new one". I love the interior as well, it still gives off that Muscle car/ we mean business feel to it. Even with the ambient lighting on the door at night, it makes it feel up to date. I would say go with a 5th Gen zl1 if you had a choice. I mean you just want a fast street car, Your not going to even get to use all that it has to offer anyway lol. If you throw 5k in your 5th gen, I promise it will feel like a whole different animal.
