The only thing awesome about that video was how terrible it was!

Let's be fair and say "Happy Spouse...Happy House", everyone deserves to be happy.

If the availability of an automatic is what it would take to get a reasonably proper Z/28 to production, then (grudgingly) it would be a good thing to offer it.
But only as long as a manual is the standard fitment. Quote:
Unavailability of a manual tranny already has been a deal-breaker all by itself in my house over the last five car purchases (spanning about 25 years). Yeah, I consider myself fortunate in this respect with my wife actively preferring to row through the gears herownself and decidedly opposed to driving an automatic in any vehicle no matter how good it might be otherwise. I'd love an automatic in it... The correct automatic though.. Not the usual slushbox that goes in there... If it were a proper high end paddle shifted multi clutch auto/computer manual (whatever), that would be killer with control and consistency.

IF an LS7 was to appear in a Z28 version, do NOT expect Automatic Trans. as an option (no previous LS7 was/is OEM'd with a slushbox).
That sad fact, right there, might be enough to preclude such a sought-after Program... |

If they feel the manual only 1LE is worth the risk, a manual only Z28 may be acceptable to them. I only drive manual, so it's no problem to me. |

...and neither I, I think the focus should be narrowed to what the Z28 should be built with, keep it to a minimum, and make very low numbers if necessary. We are not going to please everyone with it, nor should it built in an attempt to attract a ultra wide market. There's enough of a target performance oriented market to sell as many as 1885 for example such as the 2012 ZL1, at an even lower MSRP IMHO.

Ford's "target" for the BOSS, as I recall, was 5,000/MY (4,250 Base, 750 LS). Depending on whether you consider a Base BOSS as an equivalent to a 1LE, or a very basic ZEE, I would consider that number (as I have before) a worthy and reachable GM goal.
As for the availability of a Automatic ZEE (as mentioned before elsewhere in this Section), if that enables the Model to get the green light, then it's fine by me... |

Well, stuff has a way of coming out through spyshots, or testing of one form or another that will show something is up 18 months or so give or take until it hits the road? For a traditional appearing 2015, we should see something or have some indication by this late fall to early winter on a mule. 2014 is out the window for anything. The 1LE will have it's play. The ZL1 will need a upgrade or risk it's stature and signifigance. 2015 is the last chance for a Z28 hurrah in a Gen 5 form?
