USB Problem?

Anybody have problems with pairing of your ipod/iphone via USB port? For the most part, when I turn my car on or hook my ipod/iphone up via the USB port, it works flawlessly...but every now-and-then, when I plug them in, nothing happens. Ex: Yesterday on my way home from Austin, I downloaded a few songs on the Iphone, went to plug it in and I got nothing. Few hours later, after I had gotten home, it started working again.

Anybody else experiencing this? Is there something I can do to fix this myself or should I bring it in to get looked at?

Take it to the dealer. There is a software update covered under warranty. I just got mine done and it solved the problem

I am having similar issues even after getting the PDIM firmware update from the factory "CC" version to newer "CD" version (I understand "CE" isn't released yet) and after buying a new 5th Gen (of course) iPod Nano. I went for a new iPod after I couldn't get my 1st Gen iPhone to connect consistently either (though I knew it wasn't supported).

New iPod Works OK on one drive then the next drive will not be recognized by the headunit only to be recognized again the next time.

Also annoying is when recognized it will return to "Play All" the next drive when it was previously in another playlist - doesn't happen all the time but a pain nonetheless.

They think the USB is under the hood.

If it was just 1 of my devices I could understand but then again it's both my ipod and iphone that tend to not work every now-and-then. I'll let them update the software and hopefully that will fix the problem.

Thanks guys

It happens to me about 2 times a week, I just took a 1K mile trip to LA and back and it happened twice each direction. I just unplug it, wait 5 minutes (listen to XM) and plug it back in.

I tried that. I tried a soft-reset of each device and waited and then plugged 'em both back in and I got nothing. Luckily I did have the free XM to keep us company since I don't even own a single compact disc

Man I've got the same problem where it will randomly not work.

I wanted to try turning my car off then back on and try again, but I can't figure out how to get the radio to completely shut down. In my 2001 Camaro, I would remove the key then open the door and the power would be cut. But in the 2010, I can't fugire out how to get the radio to shut down completely.

Removing the key and opening the driver's door should do it.

I see what you're saying. I just went to my garage and tried again and it does turn off. But what was getting me is that you can hit the power button and it will turn back on even with the key out and door open. So I wasn't sure if it was really shutting down all the way.

I also wonder if temperature has something to do with it. The original poster live in Texas, and I'm in AZ where it's hot as hell. I've found it acts up the worst when it hot out.

Maybe the iPod's hard drive is too hot from the heat of being in a car that is in hot weather and causing a problem? Are you keeping the iPod under the armrest all the time?
