I have a G5CR cold air intake and the dealer has changed the oil twice and never mentioned anything about the intake. I do know when I talked to the GM rep about a tune on my car, he said no question that would void warranty. He also told me that any GM branded products would not void the warranty. That means you would have to buy the GM cold air intake.

Does anyone have a pic of the GM cold air intake? I have never seen the GM version.

I'd just go with a GM CAI. It's still better then no CAI and you're 100% guaranteed to still be covered.

So far, GM or GMPP has NOT Released the Air Intake Kit for either the V-6 or V-8 Camaros. I had one on order and Paid for back in August 2009. Last month the dealership refunded my money and I got a Roto-Fab CAI.

After reading about several people having trouble with their warranty due to aftermarket parts, anything is possible. If your dealer tells you that adding the Hennessey CAI will not void your warranty, I would get it in writing.

And to the above individuals that say "My dealer never said anything about my CAI when I had my car in for service" there is a reason for that. He doesn't care about your mods until you bring your car in for warranty work. At that point, you stand the chance of your dealer telling you that your warranty is now void because you altered or modified the OEM equipment.

With all the uncertainty regarding warranty issues, you should consult your service manager and get it in writing.

The dealer cannot simply void your warranty because you have a modification done to the vehicle. As others have mentioned, if you take your vehicle in for a concern you have with your vehicle and would like to be covered under warranty, the dealer must prove that the intake has caused that concern before they can even attempt to void your warranty on those items.

I just asked my dealer this question and he said he wasn't aware of one available from GM at this time. He said that I would be okay with whatever CAI installed, but if it threw a code and I had engine problems, it might be an issue with GM and warranty. He also said different dealers have different thoughts on this. As far as he was concerned, their dealership had no problems with installing one.

I wish GM Performance would come out with one, then there would be no question. It shouldn't be that big of a deal for them to do that, I wouldn't think.

My .02 worth....

For what it's worth, I bought a G5CR CAI and never had a single problem. No codes, no check engine light, nothing.

Sorry...but that's not true. My warranty was voided without anybody even attempting to prove anything.

most CAI's will not void your warranty unless you program your computer like some of them say you have to do with them. I would check your dealer first if you are worried. With that said I always keep my stock on and if it goes in I do the quick ten min switch.

Some have gotten burned in here for things. Whenever you change something in the drive train beyond oils and filters there will always be that chance.
