Probably a problem with the converter if it dies when you drop it in gear. Sucks man, sorry to hear it. If it turns out to be the case, and you got that through us, then lets connect directly and talk about options - andrew@gwatneyperformance.com

Circle d told me that they will call on Monday. Converter I got from circle d themselves. If it is the Converter time for a new one. Will be upping it a little if that is the case. Right now it's a 3200.

To be clear there are 2 circle ds. One is the manufacturer of the Converter and the other is the shop. It is at the shop. They are owned by inlaws I think. It all started off as just the transmission shop that got into manufacturering Converters but the company split into two years ago. Both are great companies. If I get another Converter I will just get it from them but I assume I will need a new transmission tune as they don't do that with a new Converter but I will hit you up Andrew to ask about a remote tune if needed.

Update: not 100% yet but circle d is pulling the trans. They believe it is likely the flexplate is cracked in more than one place from what they can see without pulling it.I will know more probably tomorrow but if it is just the flexplate I will count myself lucky and install a billet circle d one in place of the factory peice.

If it is the transmission I might just rebuild it stronger anyways. Labor is so much just to pull these things I might as well if it is the transmission and already pulled with 52k on the original trans. Hoping it isn't the crank or bearing as well but they will let me know once all is pulled.

Fingers crossed for you. I have heard broken flexplates before, they truly sound awful, and it wouldn't surprise me if that's what you're dealing with!

Update: circle d just called. Shattered flexplate in two places. They drove the car previously when it had the work from gpi. They said that my car is decivingly fast with my baby cam.lol They haven't ruled out crank either but the flexplate is Shattered. 460rwhp for the win.lol They dropped the pan and it is clean, no metal and good fluid.

It is getting this put in its place.https://www.circledspecialties.com/c...llet-flexplate

Hopefully all is well on the motor end as well. Probably update after Thanksgiving. Fingers crossed for now.lol

This is why these boards are for the most part a waste of time. You try to get the guy pointed in the right direction.... and 2 pages later he says....

"Hey everyone, my flex-plate is broken"!

Lol, interesting. I don't see why this is a waste of time. No one forced you to waste your time here.lol

Nothing wrong with posting about problems we have with our cars and have others input. There are a lot of great members on this forum I have talked with over the years.

It's not a waste of time for me either. I've learned a college degree worth of stuff about ls engines on this forum alone because of the great members on here willing to share their time and experiences with me.

Not cool to kick a guy when he is down. Pat yourself on the back & go waste your time elsewhere then.

These boards are most certainly not a waste of time. How many times I have searched "Camaro5 how to do something" is unreal and a daily staple in knowing the easy way or maybe the right way of doing things. All that information at our fingertips comes from all this interaction.

yeah, this is a good place to be asking questions and looking for ideas on where to look. Lots of great info wouldn't be here if it wasn't for people asking questions.

I'll pile on with everybody - definitely not a waste of time. I don't know what you're trying to say, you DID help get the guy pointed in the right direction. Several of us came to that conclusion based on what he shared, and that gave him a good direction to go with. He took that direction, applied it well, got with the right people to further the diagnostic process, and got it figured out.

What's wrong with that? What was he supposed to do differently?

Yes sir! Totally agree with the above. Back in the day when I had a 72 Challenger and broke a flex plate, it sounded pretty bad. So by posting in the forum with his problem and question, all the knowledgeable folks who may have been down that road were able to get him on the right track to figure out what happened. This forum and all it's wealth of info is PRICELESS!! Carry on. Thanks Andrew!!

Got the car back. The flywheel was cracked and the flexplate/crank bolts backed out some. Doesn't seem to be any motor damage and the new circle d flywheel seems solid.
