GM donated a pretty awesome gift to my son's school!
My son is a student at Marchman Technical College in New Port Richey, Florida.
He is training to be an ASE certified tech. GM donated a V6 RS Auto a couple weeks ago as a training tool for the students and instructors! Now that is an awesome car to learn on! Not sure if a 2014 or 2015, maybe some of you experts can figure it out by these few pics.

It appears to be a buy back, hence the do not license or title notification. The VIN will tell us if it is a 14 or 15.

Kinda sad that the car will never again be driven around or proudly owned. But if it can get some well trained techs out there in the field, that really know these cars well, then so be it. It's a hell of a platform to learn on. Sure beats working on some old, low tech beater that holds little relevance these days. But then again, a well rounded tech should be able to work on anything.

This seems like the ultimate paradox to me.
So, GM donates a car to help train future ASE techs on an issue or issues they could not diagnose properly which led to a buyback that they decided to use for a donation to the school. Figure that out Batman! lol! |

Maybe they need to put that on there to satisfy corporate lawyers as warning so the PTA does not grab it and put it up for raffle to raise funds, or teachers do not jump in and go out for joyrides during lunch hour and so students don't take it to track to try out mods? lol

I am assuming at least part of it is for liability reasons.
This car is now made to be dismantled and reassembled by non-GM tech students. If they are not following the GM prescribed method for any and all repairs and someone takes it out and gets hurt or killed, GM could somehow be held liable. On top of that, the car is not 'Factory new', so who knows what has been done to it. I have seen weaker lawsuits successfully tried. At least that is what the cynicism in me says.

The color is Blue Velvet Metallic, which was only available in 2015. The combination of RS trim, fog lights, and cloth interior makes this car a 1LT (1LS has no fog lights, 2LS has no RS option, 2LT has leather interior standard).

It's not a lemon, or buyback. I have gone through the ASEP program. It's either a demo or a vehicle that never got sold. It will be dismantled many many times for a few years, put back together and sold at an auction. They do this at every training center with several cars. Just food for thought when you get that "super sweet deal" on a ultra-low mileage car at auction. I have personally dismantled a couple Corvettes, a Durmax, RHD CTS, Yukons, Tahoes, Cruzes, and Malibus over the years for training purposes, all of which went to auction when the training center was done with it.

Sometimes vehicles end up having structual problems that are discovered online once the car is near completion. Alot if times its cracked material in locations that could be repaired but wouldnt be considered fit for public sale. These cars are used around the plant parking lot by security or company personnal. This car could be one of those vehicles.
