New rims
I recently put a gen6 SS rims and tires on my v6 gen5 Camaro. There seems to be a metal on metal smell now mostly on the front right side of the car and also on the right rear. I took it to discount tire so they can do a safety check on the rims and tires, but they didn't find any rubbing or any issues. I would like to see if anyone has an idea what it could be. Rims are the black 20x8.5 with the eagle F1s asymmetric 3 245/40zr20 fronts and 275/35zr20 rears.

Were you doing any ‘spirited’ driving? Possibly brake rotor / heat transfer to the wheel and you’re smelling the new finish coat? Or just hot metal. Sometimes one side works a little harder. But you should’ve noticed it pulling to that side. All I can think of if it’s not directly rubbing on anything.

Issue resolved. The smell is a plastic bag that got stuck on my cats, and has been burning for who knows how long. I only noticed the smell since I was being vigilant making sure the new rims and tires wouldn't cause me any issues.
Thank you guys for the replies. Sent from my Life One X2 Mini using Tapatalk |
