Have to remove my axle-back exhaust soon... Clamp question

The lease on my SS is soon coming to an end. I will be removing the Borla axle-back exhaust and re-installing the factory mufflers back on. Would I be able to use a good quality Band Clamp (butt joint) ? Was looking at this one made by Pypes at Summit.

Thx Sam94....I just picked these Solo Performance axle back with J pipes from a member here to replace my Borlas. I was hoping I could install by clamping but it came with no clamps and the seller said it would have to be welded on.

Now your post gives me a possible no weld solution. I don't weld and taking it to a shop, in addition to costing $$$, would take hours of waiting. Cutting my Solos to butt up and clamping is doable.

BMW uses those on all their cars. They're super nice. You'll have no problems as long as you get the correct size and you install them properly.

Already have Borlas. I bought the Solos J pipe. Ordered the clamps you posted in 2.5".
The Borlas are installed with a small single bolt clamp.

Previous owner had the Solos were welded on. I'll be grinding off the welds and hopefully those clamps will do the trick.

yes - stock ss exhaust is 2.5".

the band clamps work great - borla uses them for the cat back exhaust up front. never had an issue with them - makes removing the exhaust easy.

Stock system uses band clamps so you should be fine.

I've had the Solo J/Pipe axle backs on my SS for over 8 years now. I clamped them on new
and never had an issue. I wonder why anyone would weld the exhaust on? Just asking.
