I'm very suprised that the majority of you use 18" wheels and such large drag radials.
Do you guys have any concerns over weight (rotating mass) and over-tiring the car ? Still, really nice 60' times being posted. |

I saved 12lbs per corner with my 18" setup, and it's got great sidewall for my application. Padre |

The 26" tire setup will shorten up the rear gear a bit, so as long as you hook I can't see where that wouldn't help the 60' a bit, correct ? 17" drag radials can weight 5+ pounds less than 18 or larger tires. While the weight transfer/bias is different from a Camaro to a Corvette, along with the power delivery , I would think the same general principles apply......Limit rotational weight to maximize acceleration. |

With the SS, 26" tires would have me shifting into 5th gear at the traps. I have an A6 with 3.45 gears from an M6 Camaro - stock A6's have 3.27 gears. The gearing advantage you may gain with smaller tires are more than made up for by the 6L80E's 4.03/2.36/1.53/1.15/0.85/0.67 gears. In my opinion, the 4.03 is great for tall tires, which allow you to keep the top end performance. As I said, we have one member here who has 26" tires, specifically for that reason. It's an interesting theory, but we haven't seen any definitive results. Also, it's harder to find lightweight, inexpensive 17's that fit without modifying the brakes. 18" TSW's are the wheel of choice because they are meet all three requirements: lightweight, cheap, fit without modification. And my 1.535 tells the only story that matters to me. IOW, I don't want to be shelling out $3k for wheels alone. Padre |

If the list works the way I think it does then I should be #3 not #4. Sorry I don't want to come off as a jerk but it's just a lil V6 and all the big boys with all the mods I'm sure will knock me off the list.
