Need a 2010 ss muffler, old one rattles - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

I was hoping for a little help finding a new/used 2010 camaro ss muffler. Mine has made a rattling noise for the last 10k miles, I finally got annoyed and took it in today. The mechanic called this am and said the muffler is the problem but GM doesn't sell a single muffler only. You have to buy the complete exhaust system for $1700.

Does anyone know where I can find a single muffler? I've called my local junkyards in northern Cali and no one has a 5th gen camaro yet. Are there any junkyards that you guys know of that have camaros in?

There is a TSB out for Camaros made before 9-15-2009. The baffles have been breaking loose and causing a vibration. This happened in my first one and took it to the dealership. They looked up the TSB, pulled the car into the shop, five minutes later said they will order me a new one. I complained a little and got the GM Performance Pack exhaust instead no charge.

Does this apply to your case?

Yes! That's exactly what it is. My cars warranty has expired tho, at 104,000 miles. Does that mean they won't cover the cost of the repair?

I would just upgrade the exhaust.

I believe a TSB is not a warranty issue, I would call the dealer and see what they say, if they don't help, call the next one.

There's got to be thousands of those stock trash cans around. Nobody keeps them on their Camaros.
