2SS ordering question

It appears I'm a little late to the game. I've been following the evolution of the 2010 Camaro for the last 2 years or so fully knowing that I wanted to buy one. The last few months I have considered ordering a 2SS, but have been thinking of waiting until the 2011's come out to see if they have a 'vert, a bigger, badder SS, if the Z28 becomes a reality. I went to the closest Chevy dealer yesterday to check out the one they have.

I got to talking to the sales guy, and asked about ordering a 2SS...he told me I couldn't, the "window" is closed? Is this accurate, or was he just desperately hoping I would buy the one they have in stock? They really had their chest puffed out...lots of cars coming, 160 person waiting list, etc. I assumed when I told him I wanted to order my own he would come around, but he didn't.

Then I put a 2SS order together on the Chevy website..this is the response I recieved from a local dealer:

"At the current time all of our orders for 2010 Camaro have been filled. If you would like, we can put your name on our list and call you when we get a new allocation for a Camaro. Please let me know."

I guess I'll wait for the 2011 ordering window to open....

Thats sorta correct but not necessarily(sp) 100% accurate, while it is true most dealers have used up their orig. allocation, not sure if every single dealer in the US has. Besides there are unsold SS's on lots as we speak most of them are marked up but that will prob come down in time. There are people backing out of orders which is gonna put more unsold cars on lots. Bottom line if you want a 2010 you can get a 2010 more than likely.

Watch out for the windows opening and closing or you'll get stuck in one like us.

the dealer loves when someeone backs out of a sold order at msrp .because now he knows that the car is in demand and could sell it for top dollar so dont think you will be next to get that car at msrp he will sell for what the average ebay car is selling for at least 2 to5 thgousand over .remember the cars on ebay are going for about 40 to 43 for a 2ss .and thats not including the tax

look around........there are dealer with allocation left that can get you a 2010 by the end of summer.

don't wait for the Z28 or ramped up SS...............i did. then GM announced they weren't gonna do one anytime soon, thus resulting in my 2010 order happening way late.

but i got lucky........i found a MI dealer with alot of build allocation this month and GMS/MSRP, my 4/29 order is already at 3000!

I know of a Dealer here in NC that has a allocation still available for the 14th of May!
