Exactly! I'm at 12.3:1, non intercooled and have seen 40psi in tuning. If I could do it again I'd go 13-14:1

Texas speed talked me into 10.8:1 on one of their sleeved aluminum block 427. Running the agp twins 6262. Was running pump/ meth. The off boost drivability pick up was nice but the tuning was def a little more finicky for knock over the previous 416 hke that was 10:1 with the same setup.
On a side note has anyone else had issues with waste gates setting off the knock sensors when they open. Reading 3-4 degrees knock like a flat line. Its for sure when they open and is exactly the same wether 8 psi or 16 psi. I even run 100 percent race fuel low and high boost and as low as 10-12 degrees of timing just to see if it changed. All the same. Didn't do this with the old setup. If anyone one has any input please feel free to pm me so I dont hijack this thread. |

With any changes, you would need to adjust the ecu's knock settings/thresholds as to what level of noise is considered actual knock.

Yea when my forged motor went in, Jannetty did adjust what the ecu considers knock. I questioned this, and its apparently common practice. An aftermaket motor is just not gonna sound the same to the super sensitive knock sensors. I always run good E and we dont run an uncommon amount of timing.

Thats what i was thinking but I've read about so many people getting flamed for detuning the knock sensors, was just looking for someone to have the same thoughts i did on it. Ill start with 5 percent and work my way up from there.
Thanks guys Last edited by SHERMAN; 04-18-2021 at 09:51 AM. |

It is not detuning them.
It is tuning them to your engine, same way all aspects of the ecu need tuned to suit your engine. Not a stock engine. |
