V6 caliper bracket bolts

Hi everyone,

I had done some researching for the bolts and I found dorman 14947s recommended in a prior thread and some folks said the front and rears were the same, but unfortunately it was not! The fronts fit perfectly but the rears are some 16mm bolt for me so those I just loctite and torqued to spec.

Possibly beating a dead horse but does anyone know what bolt fits the rear? Aside from asking the dealership for them, which for the record I did contact the customer service for a chevy dealer near me and they never responded.

Cheers!

Front and Rear both are torqued the same; 30 ft-lbs, then 90-degrees, V6
SS, fronts 44 ft-lbs + 90 deg.

I have reused them 3 times, no loctite either, I just put them on at about 60 ft-lbs.

You do not make sense saying the fronts fit perfectly, but the backs are 16MM,
so you use loctite, and torqued them. So, are you saying you bought FOUR bolts,
and two fit in the front, but they do not fit rear?

Dorman part# is also correct, but Summit indicates FRONT, Advance also indicates front:

ACDELCO 18K17018

Screaming Chicken sells replacements, and the hex heads are bigger.

For the V6, they're not listing a separate bolt for the rear.

Yeah I know the 30ft lbs + 90 degrees. I was just saying in previous threads regarding V6 calipers people weren't sure if the front caliper bracket bolts and the rear were the same or not and I'm confirming they are definitely not the same. I had bought 8 bolts (2 per caliper) and the front 4 fit perfectly but when I checked the rear I found out it was already a different size->I did not have the correct bolt for the rears.

There's just some uncertainty because no site lists what the rear caliper bolt is. I just reused the ones already in there with some loctite and torqued it back to spec.

Lets start with the fact that bolts are not sized by the head size but the shaft diameter. Just because the head takes a different size socket doesn't mean they won't work. I'm not saying they do work since I've never tried to mix front and back and don't have a clue what the v6 takes.

For v6 Camaro, the front and back caliper bracket bolts are different.
(v8 brembo brakes may or may not be same, i have no experience with them)

One time use only, replace any time a caliper bracket bolt is removed.
This is specifically for the bolts that hold the bracket on (required when replacing rotors), not the sliding bolts that the caliper "floats" on. See attached images.

Front:
Part: Dorman 14947 (available at most autoparts stores)
Qty needed: 4 (2 per side)
Torque: 60Nm (44lbft) + 90 degrees
Price: I think i paid $14 ($7 for a set of 2 at autozone)
Rear:
Part: ACDELCO 92139142 (only available at GM dealers or parts sites)
Qty needed: 4 (2 per side)
Torque: 40Nm (30ftlb) + 90 degrees
Price: About $40 (sold individually for about $8, plus shipping from a GM parts site)
If anyone finds an aftermarket bolt for the rear then i'd love to know. It's frustrating spending $40 on just bolts when servicing the rear.

Hope this clears it up!

Reused my bolts three times, nothing's ever happened, and I run 1100 miles a
week. To each his own, works for me.

Yeah, seems that many people reuse them. Nonetheless the service manual says to replace them, they're stretch "torque-to-yield" bolts.
Personally I replace.

Actually, they seem to be torque by angle. No one has ever really had any proof that they are torque to yield beyond the book saying they should be replaced. This may be due to the oem applied thread lock.
