Aftermarket HUD

Been looking at aftermarket HUD's. There's many different models with many price ranges. My 2010 SS didn't come with one so I thought it'd be a cool add on. Was curious if anyone has first hand experience with any. I think I'd rather have one that projects on the windshield vs a built in screen. I also think I'd prefer one that plugs into obd2 port vs a smart phone application. Thanks for any input.

I imagine a non HUD windshield isn't going to work too well. I've tried with my 2010 using a phone app and it didn't turn out too well even at night.

I bought one on Amazon called Autolover A8 & it comes with a piece of film to project the image from the HUD. It plugs into the OBD port, it's accurate & it's clear to see. I like it and I see it has come way down in price, I think I paid $70 for it & now it's like $40.

A lot of 2010 Camaro owners have asked me where I got it & I know at least some of them bought one. This is the 3rd one I tried, there is a HUD phone app that will project but it only has speed & it isn't clear. There may be some improvements in the app since I tried it. I bought one on eBay for $20 & it was junk, blurry & would not dim at night. The A8 I have now does dim when it gets dark.

Thanks Russ I'll check it out. Does the stick on film impede visibility much?

I installed a color HUD out of a 2014 ZL1 in my 2010. I still have a non-HUD windshield.

No pictures but you can see it in the background in this video

I had the film mounted right in my line of site but it was a little distracting because it always doing something like tach, battery level, mileage, etc. so I would watch it to much.

I now have it mounted on the lower left on my windshield & I like it there much better. I will get some pictures of it tomorrow and post them.

How long did it actually take to receive it . I was looking at purchasing 1 and it says all most a month even though it ships in 6 to 10 days.

I got it quickly, less than 2 weeks.

Anyone have pics to post of the auto lover hud? Will polarized sunglasses cause issues with viewing?
Thank Mike
