Gen 5 1LE vs Gen 6 1LE is there a night and day performance between the two?

Those who have driven both cars is there a night and day performance difference between the 2014-2015 1LE vs the Gen 6 1LE? Is the newer 1LE that much faster and much better in handling or just by a little bit?

Out of the box the 6th Gen is better, faster ect. The majority of us 5th Gen guys are stupid modded and a 6th Gen doesn't have much for us.

The 6th gen 1LE is a lot faster, handles better, and launches harder from what I've felt riding in both.

6th gen 1LE is as fast or faster than the 5th gen Z/28 so yeah, there's a big difference when comparing 5th and 6th gen 1LEs.

Unless you're an absolute pro driver like Randy Pobst, the driver skill differences will be the determining factor.

Real world occasional track day driver example? I have some:

Me as an aggressive, intermediate skill level driver:
Gen 6 1LE was strong, but in my Gen 5 I was all over him, this is with mild mods to the Gen 5 at the time, so not apples to apples. (intake, headers, ridetech coilovers - not really a performance upgrade over 1LE suspension)

Then I battled with a well driven Gen 6 SS (not 1LE), and he had me beat almost everywhere on the track. It's a better chassis, with a great engine.

These two examples simply point to the variety of driver ability that you run into at a track day. Rarely do you "beat the car".

Now for the gut punch:

That same weekend, a very good driver was putting down slightly better lap times in his Gen 6 V6, with the only upgrade being very good suspension and of course, driver skill mod

Gen 6 is a superior car over the gen in a few ways. But imo the gen 5 looks better
With a few mods they are equal

Performance gen 6 all day, looks is easy gen 5 takes it everytime. Something about the rear 1/4 window that reminds me of a 73 charger on the 6th gen.

Is it just as fast like in straight line speed? Possible drivers race?

One point no one really has mentioned...The LS3 will hold 1000+whp without forged internals, and the lt1 will max at about 650whp before you need a forged rotating assembly. Only relevant if you are pushing the envelope like me.

If we're going to talk about drag.. then get the auto SS base package. Purpose of 1LE is road course...

I owned both a stock 2014 1SS 1LE and a stock 2017 1SS 1LE. While I LOVED my 2014 1LE, the 2017 is hands down faster & more fun to drive.
