Good News/Bad News

I finally got to run my Camaro with MT Drag Radials last night at Capitol. After a few passes during the heat of the day, I felt I got the launch RPM down, and let the car cool off till after the sun went down. Once it was dark, I got back in line, waiting for the "money" run. When it was finally my turn, I did a long burnout to heat the tires, and pulled up to the line. I left at 2000 rpm, and the car flat hooked - no wheel spin, no wheel hop, and no bog. I knew it was going to be my best run ever, even before I pulled up to the stand to get my slip. Low and behold, a 11.524 et at 125.33 mph! Then my heart sank, as I saw I redlighted by 0.057 sec. Otherwise, I would have made it into the top 12 on the "Fastest Camaro with power adder" list. Oh well, there's always next week.

Here's a link to the vid

Nice! What color is your car? My buddy was actually there that night in his Mustang Bullit. He was talking about a Camaro with radials as a matter of fact, but he kept telling me he beat up on it. It aparently ran a 12.7?

My Camaro is a black SS/RS. My first run of the day, at 5:30 and 95 degrees was in fact a 12.7. It was my first run with the drag radials, and I assumed I could launch at a higher rpm than I had the previous weekend on Nitto NT05s at 75-80 Dragway in Frederick. I was wrong, and all I did was spin the tires all the way through first gear. On each run after that, I heated the tires a little more in the burnout, and left the line at a little lower RPM. I also kept lowering the tire pressure. Every run got better, as I learned what the car wanted. My last run of the night was the 11.52, but I ran out of time to improve on it. I still had 22 lbs of air in the tires, and left the line at 2000 rpm. Judging from the earlier improvements, I'm guessing that with 16 lbs of tire pressure, I could leave at 2200-2300 and still not spin the tires - maybe a 11.40? I'll find out for sure in a week or two. Between different track surfaces, air temps, tire pressures, tire temps, and launch rpms, it may take me longer than others to get the car dialed in, but I'll get there eventually - I hope!
By the way, Big thanks to Tim at TandT Performance, who did all the work on the car.

Red lighting does not affect your time at all. The time starts once you leave hell you could have waited 15sec after the light turned gren and you still would have ran the same number.

i guess maybe you didnt understand what he meant by it being good and bad news..... good news is best run ever. bad news is that he lost the race due to red lighting. he wasting saying his time was cheated by cutting a bad light.
