Yeah, the 1LE tire/wheel setup is no advantage in the 1/4 mile. If anything its a disadvantage (especially having such wide wheel/tire setup in the front).
In addition- having a stiffer (road course) suspension will also make it harder to launch the 1LE off the line.

This has proved true with the regular Camaro SS. Many SS owners have put stiffer suspension parts (sway bars, bushings, springs, etc) to find out their car is slower and more difficult to launch down the drag strip.

It's funny that you call them "butt hurts", the Mustang guys do the same thing about the 1/4. Almost every thread on this forum becomes Camaro vs. Mustang thanks to the Ford fans, and almost every Camaro vs. Mustang discussion becomes a 1/4 mile measurement. Again, thanks to the Ford fans.

I am just confident about my camaro. You gotta have faith in your car. I mean, I went chevy over ford for a reason right? They have there advantages and disadvantages but overall I leaned to the camaro. It's raining right now in chattanooga tn so I won't be racing today. I'll keep you posted. And if I have to, to make it easier ill post the video on a new thread so we don't have to scroll through all this.

anyone know the outcome yet? If drivers are equal I think race will be almost equal due to the few mods the OP has. without those few mods, I think he loses.

Go to mustang forums where you can read posts from v6 mustang owners claiming to run with the camaro ss. The 5.0 is faster for sure....but mustang guys aren't innocent.

A guy just down the street from me (we're quickly becoming freind - with the enemy) is getting a new Mustang 5.0 GT. He's been asking me a lot of questions about my car.

I told him my setup and what my car ran my last trip to the track (12.10 with 20" wheels). I'm hoping for high 11s my next time out with the 18" wheels.

I have a feeling we'll be doing some racing when he gets his car. Nice guy and he seems very interested in drag racing and modding his 5.0 when he gets it.

I'll try to get him to run it stock for a base line and then keep track of how fast he runs with each mod he gets. Once he catches up to me, I might have to take the next step and move up in HP.

I quoted what you said again, I was pointing out that there are many threads with Camaro VS Mustang that are started by Camaro owners and listed the ones I found on the first page of this forum as examples. hard to dispute that. and I didn't call you dumb I said quit PLAYING dumb. there's a difference and it was meant as a huge insult.

Both the Camaro and Mustang have their advantages. which one you like better is simply a personal preference. I have owned both and there are things I like better about the Camaro and things I like better about the Mustang. nobody on an internet forum can make you change your mind and you'll always like the one that appeals to you personally. I think these threads are pointless and get heated over something as simple as opinions which are subjective and rarely based on just facts.. just be happy there is a rivalry between Camaros, Challengers and Mustangs because it has allowed us to relive the late 60's and early 70's muscle car wars. something I thought would never happen again.
