New Tires

When I bought my car it had Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3's and since day one I have been disappointed with them. I knew based on the wear rating that they were not made to handle well, and they never have. I've never been able to hook with them. Even the slightest bit of water on them is dangerous if you mash the gas.

After doing some research I purchased some Firestone Firehawk Indy 500's. I get them installed tomorrow and I am looking forward to actually being able to put the power down and be confident in the corners. Once I have some miles on them I'll give an update.

To anyone thinking about getting the Michelin's based on the wear rating (500) I recommend you stay away from them if you want to enjoy your car.

P.S. I also just got a tune from RDP so hopefully I can really enjoy the new power.

At that price point ,they ( Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 ) are to way to go . I plan on getting a set when the G2's are done.

I had a set of the Wide Ovals with a 500 tread wear, over all good tire doesn't shine on a road course track.

I have the Firehawk indy tires. They are a really nice street tire and my 1le hooks up real well. My car has only been in the rain once but they are known to preform excellent in the rain. I will say they are far superior to the G.Y eagle f1 that came on the car in cooler temps.
Not a great track tire but very nice on the street.

Nope. I'm about to buy another set of G2s. They're up to almost $300/each now. Bummer. But nothing else comes close.

  • G2s: Rock throwing is like like a tramp stamp; although problematic, it's a sign of good things to come.

I think the RE71's are out until August...I was thankful to snag a set last week at the local Firestone dealer.

I can't see myself trying a different tire.

That's what is holding me back from getting another set of G2's . They work good in Phoenix, but we have very little rain and only a couple cold months . I don't track my car so im thinking I might get the Firestones . If anyone has a lead on the G2's at under $225.00 please post it here . Thanks

The lefts are more than the rights ( WTF ) and the $86.00 freight eats up the rebate .

I am having 4 of these in OEM sizes mounted up next week, and Road Force balanced. I will let you know how they ride. BTW, I don't track my 1LE at all.
