Figured I would put this here, as I am NOT the first person to ask this question:
I have a cat-back exhaust, and a cai. Outside of PTB (Which I might have shortly )
Gears or headers for overall performance gain. One of these gets done by the end of the year (Nov/Dec) the other would get done by around April/May of next year. From what I have been told/am reading: The gears I am looking for, GM 3.91 are about $450. I have been told about $400-500 for install, as long as no special tools are required, so thats about $850-950 installed, give or take.
For the headers, I was looking at Stainless Power 1-7/8" with HFCs. About $700 and change from a vendor here, and $500-600 to install. So thats about $1200-1300 installed. My install prices are probably off, as the convo I had with my shop guy was 1 week too long ago... Crappy short term memory.
Either way it leads me to my next thought, is that both require a tune. :(...
Thanks guys,
Jason

Personally i would go with headers first. As far as install goes 5-600 for header and hfc is way too much. I had mine installed for 300.

+1

Headers will require a tune and gears will require a recalibration.

Hey guys, sorry I haven't been around in a while. I went to the track tonight. Had a blast. Had 2 runs.

I ran a 13.068 @ 112.26 with a 2.261 60' and an 8.672 8th mile (86.69 mph at the 8th) on my first run.

Second run was a 13.019 @ 112.92 with a 2.314 60' and an 8.655 8th (88.68 mph at the 8th).

These times were with no revving and no burn out.

Sorry for the double post. But anyway, here are some more details. Car with myself in it weighed 4015 pounds. Temp was about 80 degrees. And the runs were back to back with no shut off time. Based on predictors, my time should have been a low 12 and my HP should be around 450 to the wheels. Gonna try for a 12.8 next Wednesday.

It's gonna take a while to get that launch figured out. I was able to get a 12.8 with tons of spinning. I bet you get it next time. You should try launching around 2500 RPM on your street tires and just slip the clutch and roll into the throttle. You should be able to get your 60' time down around 2 seconds with just minor improvement.

I'll try. My feet are size 16, lol! So its hard for me to get the foot action down. I'll try your advice and see what that gets me.

Doesn't matter how big your feet are! Launching the M6 isn't easy. Just take what the auto guys are running with 50+ HP less than you and add a second. That's probably what you'll end up running haha.

I went out practicing and its getting a little easier. I was gonna try the competitive mode. But something about dropping the clutch at 4000 RPMs doesn't sound right. Plus I've read that some have had mechanical failures from using that mode. So I'll just continue feathering the clutch.

Yeah I wouldn't be dropping the clutch until you get the rear end taken care of. I typically just drive for fun when I take mine out.

Totally from left field, but I couldn't sleep last night and came across your sig's bin hex code. Good luck to you too and thanks for helping me entertain myself while wide awake at 3:00am.

Haha. It was just straight binary for a while, then someone lodged an anonymous complaint and I had to make it a little more difficult to decipher. You're the first to decode the new one! 10 points for you sir.

Yeah, I guess I can understand how some might complain, so I'll reply back in cipher. Only a geek would... hey wait a minute, LOL... decipher this anyway.
