Need Some ZL1 Advice

Ok.. someone talk some sense into me, I'm getting the speed bug again. I have a new Sierra Truck with the 6.2... nice truck with some punch. But what's better than a normal 6.2...one that is supercharged!

Anyway.. I have been a diehard GM guys my whole life. Thinking about a new 2018 ZL1 - blue the carbon fiber hood, 10 speed, no sunroof.. just how I want it. Are these things tame enough for daily use? I don't drive that much, maybe 10K per year...mostly highway.

The ask price for this 2018 ZL1 is $67,500. Does this sound about right for a 2018? Do the dealers come off the price of these cars at all?
Any tips would be great.

I have a 5th gen, not a 6th gen. And I have been driving trucks and heavy equipment almost exclusively for a quarter century. So getting into my Z was, well, quite different.

I almost daily drive mine, 1/2 in the city. It's a no brainer to DD it on the highway provided it (the seats) is comfortable for you.

I should add... I will be keeping the truck as well. I need to have a truck for some things. ZL1 will be for small errands around my house, plus 2 hour highway drive (every few weeks) to my other house.

Yes the ZL1 (mines a 5th gen) is perfect as a DD. Before I retired, I used mine as a DD during the summer, with a daily round trip of 70 miles to work and back.

I used to daily drive mine until I got to 800 whp. Now I daily one of those 420 hp Silverados. I leased my truck so I'm not tempted to mess with it though it really needs a cai and a tune ! 97 mph top speed doesn't cut it!

Fla, you might have better help with 2018 ZL1s on the Camaro6 forum under the ZL1 subsection: http://www.camaro6.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=235

I don't see why you couldn't DD a ZL1, but I'd never do it, simply hate watching wear and tear happen to my vehicles. "It's a car it's meant to be driven" incoming.

Shop around, as the asking price seems high (or the dealer not giving you enough of a discount). See which dealer comes in lower; If they aren't dealing then you start with about 5% off of the sticker, and work from there. I never pay sticker; If you hold out awhile you could run into GM's big rebate sale that they give once in awhile, with as much as 20% off MSRP.

Always bargain hard when car shopping.

Check with Tom Henry Chevrolet in Pittsburgh for pricing. But they may be hard to come by.

This is from the manufacturer (Chevrolet). When the inventory levels are stagnant and they need to make room for the new models, then Chevy and GM will start to slash prices. The last deep discount we saw a couple of years ago averaged about 20% off. This doesn't happen every day (of course), but lucky shoppers can get a windfall savings when it does.

I didn't get my ZL with that deep discount (darn it), but I did purchase my truck with Chevy's deep discount in '08. GM was in serious hot water then, when the SUV inventory swelled, and GM was on the brink of bankruptcy. Gotta tell you, that was the best deal I've had on a car ever!
