Extended Warranty great deal

I did some research on GMPP extended warranty prices. Before you sign on the dotted line at your selling dealer, give the guy below a call. His pricing is really good. Most of the Vette guys go to him for warranties. Mention CAMARO5

Can you not purchase an extended warranty later? I thought you could buy one right before the factory warranty expires.

I think the price goes up as your mileage goes up. You don't have to buy the warranty on the first day but you need to buy it before a certain mileage to get the best price. The price is broken up into mileage blocks so it is something like 0-10,000 miles is the cheapest and then 30,000-36,000 is the most expensive.

You can buy an extended up to the first year.
I was instructed not to post prices.
PM me if you want a ballpark figure.

You can only purchase a GMPP Major Guard plan while the vehicle is under its original bumper-to-bumper factory warranty (3 years / 36K miles).

There is a tiered pricing structure for this type of plan.

0 months to 12 months / 0 to 12000 miles (cheapest overall rates - GMPP new)
12 months to 36 months / 0 to 24000 miles (second cheapest overall rates - GMPP used)
12 months to 36 months / 24000 to 36000 miles (most expensive rates - GMPP used)

I posted some additional info in this other post.

I've purchased two GMPP Major Guard plans from Dennis Fichtner. He's usually offered the lowest price for a GMPP Major Guard plan.

I really never get an extended, but since this is year 1, I might get the extended.

I would recommend an extended warranty to anyone who plans on keeping it past the factory warranty, which I thought GM was now offering 5 year 100,000 mile factory warranty? Or atleast get it covered untill about the time it will be paid off since for some it may be hard to make the payment and repair the vehicle if something major were to happen. I had the engine in my truck break a valve spring which turned into a 4" diameter hole in the side of the block. I was 1 year out of the factory warranty and was so glad at that very moment that I did purchase a GMPP 5 year 100,000 mile warranty. I wound up paying $100 deductable and had to pay for a set of plugs since wear items arent covered under the extended warranty. So I got a new engine and drove away a week or so later for like $165. The total with parts and labor without the warranty was like $8000.
I would have been forced to walk away from the truck if I didn't have the warranty! Sorry I don't have 8k just laying around!

The "bumper-to-bumper" warranty is still 3yr/36K miles.

It's only the powertrain warranty that runs 5yr/100K miles.

They have all different combo's for the extended.

72/72
60/100
72/48

I like the 72/72 thats 6 yrs bumper to bumper. It's good if you drive around 12K a year.

Yep, that's me. I literally drive exactly 3000 miles every 3 months.

So, I have a question on the service contract...If GM provides a 5yr/100k powertrain warranty, is there a matching extended service contract available to cover all of the items normally under the 3yr/36k bumper-to-bumper warranty minus the items already covered by the GM powertrain warranty?

I don't see any added value in buying an extended service contract that duplicates the coverage of the GM powertrain warranty.
