I would still take skip shift to avoid gas guzzler tax instead of the L99. $20 fix vs...
Vs......$4760

Shift only from 1 (First) to 4 (Fourth) when the message comes on."

Although folks keep stating that it doesn't lock 3rd out and/or recommending to shift to 3rd when the message comes on, the statements above state otherwise!

To err on the side of caution, you should a) purchase and install a Skip Shift Eliminator, b) get a tune (and void existing warranty), c) double-clutch, try shifting into second more than once, or shift to 4th when the message comes on, or d) drive outside of the parameters that cause the message to come on in the first place.

That's a different solenoid. More than one person on here has mistakenly hooked up their eliminator up to it though.

Bought a sick shift eliminator...one of the best investments I made on this car. 1->4 can be infuriating.

Hmph! I have not seen the 1-4 shift indication pop up yet..... Although... I really haven't been looking at the dash.

Does it also show up on the HUD?

Is it hard to go into 2nd when it does pop up?!

Doesn't really bother me at all. It doesn't seem to happen all that often and when it does if you push the clutch and wait a sec or two you can go into 2nd. That or I just go to 4th. If you don't like it I would say get the eliminator or (give it more peddle) and now worries!!!!!

If you've never seen it...you must be giving it a fair amount of gas every time you start.

No, it doesn't show up on the HUD, just the DIC.

And hard to go into 2nd? Impossible, unless you attempt to break the gate.
