2 screws - 2 tires - 5 days

New 1LE with goodyear eagle f1 g2 tires.

i picked up a screw in passenger rear tire on monday. it was close to the side wall so I put on a new tire. shop handled new rims with care, but there was still a small scratch where they popped off the tire. very small.

today i noticed another screw in driver front tire but this looks like it can be patched. car has 500 miles on it and i have picked up two screws and out of pocket 300 already and possibly another 30-300 depending on damage tire.

my question is: do these tires have a history of picking up screws and nails easier than others? Second, is it OK to plug these tires? i figure it is fine, but looking for other opinions. any yes, i did not buy the optional road hazard when i purchased the car. figures right.

thanks in advance for your replies.

These tires have a habit of picking up EVERYTHING !!

But they sure do stick in the corners though.

those tires should be covered under warranty you shouldn't have to pay anything

yes I have had more screws in one year with this car than in the last 10 years of owning cars. I replaced them with Michelin A/S3 tires and so far so good.

Holy crap, sorry to hear that! 2800 miles and no road debris picked up yet... Finding a piece of wood to knock on....

Not for nails in tire....if the tire had a physical defect maybe....but no warranty for crap in tire.

I picked up a nail to my first week of ownership too. They are very sticky tires.

Sorry about your luck there...expensive fix I'm sure. Hope you've gotten it out of your system now.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I know road hazard is just that and it seems like this might not be the last time i get a screw in the tire, but with the black painted rims i shutter every time i think about a shop removing my tire. i just don't want them scratched up.

i guess on positive with both tires they did not lose air pressure until the pulled out the screw so they seem to hold up good and not blow out.

might try the Super Sports when the tread runs out on these.

It's just bad luck on picking up screws. I see no reason you cannot plug or patch as long as it's not close to the side wall. I would use goods plugs and go that route and no rim worries.

I feel your pain. Just replaced my left rear that only had 9k miles on it. Thought I could avoid the 1LE tire curse. No one is safe.

Mine's in getting a new tire too. Third hole in 6 months.... I paid for the third party "tire and wheel" warranty, so haven't had to shell out a dime yet!

That's not very encouraging. Way too much trouble in a 6 month period.

Only if the OP has a tire and wheel protection package. Vehicle warranty will not cover that.
