Get a LSA and exhaust and call it a day, and it will put a big smile on your face.

I mean you have an ls3 car just do fuel system and pick what kinda FI you want. You can make 700 and the motor and trans will take it. That’s a whole lot cheaper than buying a new car.

Guys if hes considering getting a 6th gen ZL1 i dont think money is an issue lol. I've driven a 6th gen SS not even a 1le and the platform feels good, less weight, the handling is great.
One big con is the interior is smaller feels significantly tighter, I recommend test driving one. A regular 6th gen SS doesnt look as good as a 5th gen. However, the 6th gen ZL1 looks great IMO with that carbon fiber hood insert. Someone also mentioned the 10 speed, I concur, the 10 speed will make all the difference in a straight line. I would say go test drive a ZL1 man, you can easily build your 5th gen though to much more power whp than a new ZL1 though. Good luck lol your in between a rock and a hard place.

Keep the 5th gen. You won`t want to deal with the 10 speed auto problems

Both! The 6th's are a blast to drive and the Manual shift mode is addicting on the 6th. I said the first time I had a 6th SS for a weekend that they better hope the tranny is rock solid because I manual shifted the entire time (I had one for a weekend loaner twice) All that being said I just like the 5th better for comfort and looks.
One thing that bothered me about the 6th (a deal breaker for me) was the defrost always blows a little even when not engaged (I had 2 different 6th's so it was the same w/both) so after about an hr of driving in the summer the ac on the windshield would start to condensate on the outside and I'd have to hit the wipers every couple minutes as the condensation would literally start to cover most of your field of view. Certainly they addressed this problem as it's unacceptable to have to constantly run the wipers on sunny days.

1JEWLDSSRS lives here too. Who knew little ol'Melbourne had a cachet of modded GenVs. I never see any of them. All I see (and all the local shops want to work on) are Mustangs.

I had a 6th gen ZL1 and it was a badass car. It handled and rode extremely well. The power and technology was awesome. If the car was a 10sp I would of kept it. The auto cars are a full half sec faster in real world ET's then the manuals. However I love the look of the 5th gen SS but the 6th gen SS is ok. The 6th gen ZL1 is pure sex. I saw some 17's for low 40k a few months back btw. Heres my old car.

My Father-In-Law has a 2019 SS/Auto and I checked his car out over the weekend. I really like the looks of my Gen5 Spring Edition and the fact that it's not as civilized as the Gen6 had me leaning toward keeping the current car. Before that I did make a call to my buddy over in Clearwater who's done tons of work on both Gen 5 and Gen 6 Camaros. He was very clear that the Gen 6 ZL1 is a superior car and that if I wanted turn-key I would not be disappointed. I was really on the fence of pushing the button on a used Silver ZL1 Convertible on the Carvanna site for $54k.... I've now kicked this around for a week and after staring at my Gen 5 for a bit and then driving it on some errands yesterday I've decided to keep it. The fact that it's mint, paid for, and only has around 30k on it helped it's case. Now to figure out which supercharger...My first inclination is the Whipple 2.9.

Take the same ZL1 car, one with the 6 speed manual, and one with the 10 speed auto, the manual is still a shade faster. Johnny Lieberman with Motor Trend and Randy Pobst demonstrated that.
https://carancestry.com/manual-chevy...matic-version/ I know that was with the 2017 models. |

Good call! Can't go wrong with the Whipple! It's treated me well for 3 years and I'm still on the 4" pulley, so there's lots of room to grow with them!
