What's so special about the V6?
This is my first American muscle car I bough, upgraded from an 94 Camry so I'm not use to having such a nice looking car with 323HP.
My question is that is the V6 Camaro 2013 the top of the line V6? or is it just an nice looking car with and normal engine & nothing special? I know it can't even beat the v6 2013 mustang, so I'm curious to what other car it would lose to in a race. thanks guys!

I'm not sure what you mean is the V6 the top of the line V6??? It's the only V6 available in the Camaro.
It's a great engine and runs decent and gets good mileage, but anyone that bought it intending to race it stock should have gotten an SS or ZL1. There are lots of cars out there that it would beat and a lot that would beat it in a drag race but none look as good.

I think it will beat that 94 Camry.

These cars are heavier and have an independent suspension in the rear. Solid axle and less weight work in the advantage of drag racing. I think every hundred punds is 2 tenths in the 1/4 so drop 300 lbs and thats 1/2 second easy.

I think you are asking if it Camaro specific or not. The answer is not, it is the same V6 found in a number of GM SUVs and cars including the Impala, Equinox, Lacrosse, etc, etc, etc

The only reason a v6 mustang would be faster is because of the weight of the cars. 323hp is alot for a V6.Just think about the fact that in 2010 the Mustang V8 was only putting out 300hp.

It also has more HP than the V6 Mustang (305).

The V-6 Camaro exists for one reason only. To reach a bigger sales market, period. I personally wish car manufactures would NOT do that, but I understand life is all about making money. The only American car I can think of at the moment that does not compromise and lower its standards for the sake of the all mighty dollar is the Dodge (no longer, now SRT) Viper. If you can think of other American cars post them, please. Lets take the Mustang, same thing, V-6, much less expensive which results in more sales. The corvette, same thing, the Grand Sport is half the price of the ZR1.
In my world (if I where King or make that Queen) the American Muscle Cars would be revered and worshipped. Why, because there would be none and I mean NO Compromising. Look back in the history books, the Mustang at one time could be purchased with a four cylinder. How insulting is that, can you imagine GM announcing "later this year we will introduce our new FOUR CYLINDER CAMARO". WHAT? It does 0 to 60 in 8.4 seconds! OMG shoot me now! Back in my world, V-8s only, SS, 1LE, or ZL1 would be your choices. Options would include most of the mods you see being done now, but they would be factory. I'd also add a Flame Thrower Exhaust Kit as a factory option. Something kinda cool about a two foot flame bursting out of the exhaust as you go thru the gears! Unfortunately, in the real world it's all about money, money, money! |
