Smile Stock Intake Mod

So I finally took the time to finish the intake project I've been wanting to do. Please note that this is purely cosmetic, and I expect only a minimal change if any to the performance over that of the completely stock intake.

I started off by taking the intake off the car. I then took a hack saw and sawed off the resonator. Once complete, I took a surface conditioning disk to even out the rough edges and prepped the piece for some JB Weld.

I used a heavy duty degreaser on the scratched up plastic and went to work- laying three coats of JB allowing it to set for about 30 minutes between each coat.

Once completely dry, I took another few conditioning disks and worked my way down from 60grit all the way to 220 at which point I decided it was good enough. Once clean, I took some high temp paint and went to work taping off what I didn't want red.

The end result is below! I've also added some photos of the calipers I've painted, as well as the bow-ties and finally the custom stripe I did. I had one of my customers cut me 100' of 3" vinyl which I then placed on the car. Let me know what you think!

If you want to do something similar, you can get everything you need at your local Fastenal store.

Good luck

I hope the JB Weld sticks and doesn't end up in your engine!

The Engine and the Calipers look GREAT! .....

I don't care for the stripes though.

IDK, from the back, on that last pic, it looks a little bit like an Audi. Can't put my finger on it. Could be just me though.

It doesn't make any sense to me either... I think it's when the light reflects off of the trees? just right... It's magical.

Dude was parked in my spot.
