Installed Kooks Headers & Dyno'd My L99 Today
Greetings C5!
Today I had Kooks 1 7/8 long tubes headers and cats (Compliments of Maryland Speed) installed today at PTuning (www.ptuning.com) in Manassas, Va. They also dyno'd my L99 as well (just pulls no tuning). The guys here are great people and they knew what they were doing on the dyno as well... they got a thumbs up from me! Before I had a SCT tune from Ted Janettey (I cant thank him enough for what he do for us ), Roto-Fab CAI, and Flowmaster AMT Catback. They conducted a before and after pull and I must say I was (and so was the guys at PTuning) impressed with it over all. Here is the results: Before Headers: 363.1HP/375.5TQ After Headers: 370.7HP/388.3TQ They also told me that these pulls were pulls with "No Correction Factors Added" and he also told me that their dyno gave lower readings. I must say that these were some nice guys. Anyway pics are below. First couple is pics of the install and shop. Chime in if needed and Thanks for looking

Thanks bro... Im trying to be like you when I grow up LOL
They told me that their dyno reads low, but they said it gained a lot of tq. When I put the tune in the car I didnt have the headers yet so I think I may need it re-tuned. As for differerence, I feel a lil more umph in it compared to what it was before...but I think this is average for an automatic with these bolt ons.

yeah, that sounds real low. from everything i have read , lts should get you approx 30rwhp.shorties are gaining about 5 rwhpp .are you saying you did not tune for the headers, only install with no tune? if so, by moving the cats farther away you will throw a code soon from evrything i have read..you def should look into a dyno tune..good luck

This Dyno is dead on with those mods... The first dyno was WAY high for an L99 w/ no headers...
Go Torque Converter shopping first... you won't regret it. (best bang for your buck) I'm cam shopping now also... |

from a earlier post..K&N CAI, corsa cat back, JBA high flow cats , dyno tune = 397 whp
new setup K&N CAI, corsa cat back, kook longtubes ,dyno tune = 417 whp the tune was a big part on adding the HP now i,m not sure if ls3 or l99, but gain was 20 rwhp, but you have similar set up..and gained 7rwhp...so its possible that the dyno tune gained this op the 13 hidden rwhp..whether the tune or the headers actually gained him the 13 is questionable..
