I DID IT!!!! I HIT MY GOAL AND RAN A 10 SECOND PASS!!! WOO HOO!!!

a little more detail on how my night went. The air was much better today and there were some serious cars running today too, so i think that helped a little in the beginning. I was only able to get two passes in...

11.135 @ 126.12 - 1.841 60ft
10.996 @ 126.20 - 1.725 60ft<-- new PB - ET and 60ft

first pass felt good, but i spun just a little bit so i decided to hot lap it. I think this helped my tires out a bit for launching... i revved up to about 5000rpm this time and really used the clutch this time to get the better 60ft.

But the reason i only ran 2 passes was because on my second pass, when i launched my oil return pump switched off. So it caused my oil from my turbos to get backed up. Large amounts of smoke shot out my tailpipes as i crossed the finish line.

I crapped my pants. I thought i blew my motor. But when i turned the car off i realized that my oil pump wasnt running. Look in my arm rest and see it was turned off. Looks like i need to figure out a better switch for that.... or carry duct tape with me.

So looks like 10.8x's are next. Now that i got my 10 second pass, i can start modifying the suspension and rear end properly to allow me to hook up better. so now the journey continues.

Well now that i have achieved my goal of running a 10 second pass on... stock suspension... stock rear end... stock tranny... and stock motor.

I can now start to upgrade all of that. I know the car has a faster time in her per the MPH, but getting the proper 60ft is the difficult part.

So i think my next step is suspension and bushing. I am going to probably start with thicker drag links in the rear with a full race bushing kit. Also I have ripped my stock motor mounts right out so i will be upgrading to a ZL1 motor mount setup. I figure it will still be streetable but more capable of handling the extra power.

I also think i need to start stiffening the chassis a bit. Hopefully this will help me be able to get more aggressive when launching.

The rear end i will keep as is until it destructs again. At that time i think i am either going to throw a true track posi unit as that is usually what blows. I think this rear will be able to take me to low 9's. With these minor upgrades, I also think my car could handle a 2-step then. So maybe that combined with a line lock will be in the near future as well.

so here is what is on my to do list next.

so i had an unfortunate incident actually happen to me this weekend.

To make a long story short I took a trip to the track, and on my 4th and final pass i had the worst things happen...

shifting from 2nd -> 3rd gear... large flame out the left tail pipe, followed by a puff of smoke, and every light on my dashboard lit up.

as i get back to the pits i scan my computer and get the code "misfire cylinder 7" and learned i got a pet monkey that is now stuck inside my motor playing with a big wrench.

so the fun began...

To make it easier to maneuver around i removed the hood and bumper.

We were trying to guess what we thought it was before we started opening things up. We got the valve cover off and saw that all the valves were in place, and everything in the valve train looked good.

We then pulled out the spark plug and noticed that it was smashed closed.

So we are stuck trying to figure out what caused it.... what guesses do you guys have?

Well I know that the piston hit the spark plug... so I am just hoping my valves are OK.

The plan is to drain the fluids tonight and pull the motor/head off to see what's going on. Updates will soon follow lol

How did the piston hit the spark plug? I agree... it looks like something mechanical happened to that plug, but I would have guessed that something bouncing around in the cylinder hit the plug. Sorry man... hopefully it's a simple fix.

I will find out tonight. We will be pulling the motor/head and taking a look inside.

My guess is either a stretched/cracked rod, Melted piston that deformed to hit it, or bad wrist pin.

There is a very ugly knock when she ran so something is bouncing around where it should be.

Well that sucks. Good opportunity to get in there and upgrade things though! I would expect to see some other damage on that plug if the piston got melted. It looks squeaky clean.

Benefits of running meth injection lol. Keeps everything looking new. The plug was drenched in gas though too. but that is expected as there is no spark to ignite the fuel.

I will know for sure tonight though....

I am leaning toward a weisco/callie combo with a 9.7:1ish compression ratio as of right now. But i have plenty of time to decide.
