Muffler Delete on L99?
Since it seems to be that the general concensus is that there is little to no benefit from doing a cat-back vs an axle-back exhaust upgrade....
Does anyone have any sound clips of an L99 muffler-delete? I've found quite a few LS3's, but I'm curious how bad/good it is on the L99? Maybe it's worth the investment in the extra $$ if a full cat-back doesn't sound like poop.

I have L99 too. If you want a sexy sounds get a pair of American Racing 1 7/8 Headers and an axle-back exhaust system (like magnaflow/SLP). Get the LMR Cold Air Intake too with a Dyno tune and you'll make a crap load of more power; it will sound amazing too! My 2 cents.

An axle back and catback are mostly about looks and sound, and you might pick up a little HP on the way. You could try the muffler delete first, and if you don't like the sound you could put an axle back or catback on it. I'm planning on long tube headers sometime in the future so I definately didn't want to go the muffler delete route. That would get way too loud for my tastes. If you're not planning on getting long tube headers or high flow cats, then the muffler delete might be a good setup for you. Last edited by SGOS252382; 07-30-2009 at 06:07 PM. |

Thanks for the suggestions... ultimately I'll need to sit down and just think about how many dollar signs I want to pay out. I'm also thinking about just waiting to see how many other oolies arise from these cars. I'd hate to find out something needs to be fixed that should have been covered under warranty, but is now voided.

The GMPP street for the L99 really deepend the car up and you have not lost warranty. If you want louder go with the GMMP off road and you will be louder yet and still have warranty.
I love the low rumble now over the stock sound. And AFM is not as noticeable now. |

You could also try burning the steel wool out of the mufflers. That will deepen it up some too.

Bro go muffler delete. It sounds good in both modes. It doesnt sound ricey or any trash like that. I got mine done for $90 out the door using stock tips. It looks great and the car sounds like a car again, not an accord.
