Don’t blame Hurst. We started a group buy thread. Had 73 who said they wanted one but, when it came time only 37 would plunk the money down. Hurst said they needed 50 confirmed. I contacted Hurst and that is the number who actually responded willing to put money down...

Hurst responded:

After that, folks didn’t step up...

I don't think that anyone is blaming Hurst or the company that bought them out...we just want them to reconsider putting the shifter back into production.

Myself, I'd love a backup one... If enough folks don't commit though, Hurst wont -- shame as we were so close too....

I agree with you hammdo. What scares them is the price.

I think it's one of the NICEST shifters that I've seen. I have always been a BIG fan of Hurst & their products ever since I installed a V-Matic 3 in my '65 GTO back in 1982. Also owned a '68 GTO with the stock Hurst Dual Gate Shifter (though I replaced the shift knob with custom handle fabricated from a set of brass knuckles). I think that Hurst would sell at least a 100 units if they decided to put the Auto Stick back on the market. Going to purchase a shifter from CDF, so that I can at least install a Hurst T-Handle.

Does anyone know if the Hurst paddle shifters are still available? Installed the ones from Vitesse but would prefer the Hurst paddles. Maybe Hurst would consider selling them as a boxed set with the shifter.

A TRUE gearhead! Wanted to do the same with a '67 Firebird & a 428 out of a '68 Tempest wagon but had to sell the car, unfortunately. Was talking to my local speed shop owner & friend who was at one time on the board of directors for SEMA about the Hurst shifter. Apparently Hurst, B&M, & Flowmaster were all bought out by Driven Performance and even though Hurst's manufacturing plant is still in West Sacramento, CA (about 90 miles South of where I live), most of everything is now outsourced overseas. That's the reason they want a purchase order of 50 units minimum...not cost effective for the parent company because all the components will have to be reoutsourced. It wouldn't of been a problem if Hurst was still individually owned & the shifter kit was still being manufactured locally....Basically, Hurst products are no longer made in the USA & good luck getting replacement parts.
