DG, the police car is indeed a 2007. Joe’s Super Bee is a 2013.

There's always a couple on the board at any given time with "DEAD" written next to the car number.

And then only based on the state of charge of the battery. If they are getting the first stop with the AC running, the state of charge will be so low that chances of getting a 2nd stop within a few minutes, even if they do exceed 8 mph, are about as slim as having a Yeti offer to squeegee your window while you are stopped at the light. Something must be broken.
OK, you're right (I think)….Neighbor claims with A/C on, car will not shut off during a stop, only the idle will fluctuate from a low to a high idle...She swears car does not shut off at a stop with the A/C on....With no A/C, car will stop and restart with throttle...

One driver puts it into neutral before stopping completely....The other claims if you don't press down hard on the brake pedal at a complete stop the engine will run normally and not shut off....lol...

ok...lol...You can still stay stopped, and keep the engine running by only lightly pressing on the pedal, just enough to keep the car stopped and the engine running....lol...I didn't mean to say that the car doesn't stop rolling....lol...

I observed on Euro cars the backing off the brake just before it comes to a stop and then reapplying it causes the engine to keep running.

On my Buick once you stop and the engine stops you can lift slightly on the brake pedal and it restarts, then it will continue to run. No continous stopping and starting.
The only time the AC in mine will not let the car shut off when stopped is when the interior is not at the preset temperature. If it is the engine will stop and then restart if the temperature climbs over 5 degrees or so above the set temperature once the interior cools back down it will shut off again.

We’ll just show a commercial of a guy eating and drinking with zero human to wheel contact as it zips down the highway, and then act all surprised and dumbfounded when one of idiot customers plows into something.

While I think the distinction between hand-held distracted driving & hands free distracted driving is idiotic (because the problem is in the brain, not the hand), I do know that SuperCruise actually monitors the driver's face to tell whether they are paying attention to the road or not. Presumably, it doesn't much matter whether you're sending a text, carrying on a cell-phone conversation, or about to fall asleep. But that would depend on what behaviour model the system is checking against. If its comparing to a model for someone using a hand held device it might not catch other things. But if the model is 'attentive driver', it could be very handy.

And of course, the question with this type of technology (driver monitoring) shouldn't be whether its perfect, but whether its better than the alternatives. And I'm sure that whatever flaws SuperCriuse will have here, it has to be better than literally nothing (which is the standard for almost every car out there). But there are other systems out there, like the one Mercedes has, that require regular steering inputs & these could be rigged with a little counterweight to trick the system into remaining active.

I'm not sure how a camera that tracks the face could be fooled into thinking you're paying attention.
